My son has a ipod touch 2g He wants to jailbreak it but is having trouble as its a touch MC running the lastest software.

Can anyone point me in the right direction online. He has tried it several times but failed
He is trying blackra1n

any help would be appreciated as i dont really want him to have a$300 paper weight.

Not sure with the new firmware, i know 2Gs can be jailbroken but having the latest software version might mean you will have to wait to the new jailbreak, Blackra1n should be pretty simple to do it so it thats not working then im not sure sorry, i have jailbroken about 5-10 devices.

If he's updated it to firmware v3.1.3 then you will have to find a v3.1.2 firmware and jailbreak/restore that as apparently the usual exploits are fixed in v3.1.3. I've read conflicting info on whether or not it'll actually work with v3.1.3, you could always try but otherwise stick to v3.1.2 if possible as v3.1.3 does NOTHING useful.
