MrCynical: With the apple store, do they charge your card at checkout or when the phone ships?

On shipping.  I haven't been charged yet.

For me, buying through Apple meant I got to use my Amex which many of the Vodafone branded stores don't take.  My card gives me an extra year's warranty at no cost, so worth using. Oh, and the AirPoints are good.

$10 US with free shipping, so about $15 - shipping usually takes about a week from that site.
Dock

Thanks for that. Looks identical. Same factory?

James Bond: Is there anyone other than the Apple Store that sells the iPhone 4 Dock?

The whole $15 shipping from Apple New Zealand just isn't acceptable. Especially since Apple Australia has free shipping.

I rang Apple on Monday and complained, they sold me one for $55 and shipped it for free.

Turned up yesterday.

Yeah tell me about it. Good on you for ringing them. It should be free shipping on all items.

To add insult to injury, the "free shipping with orders of $99 or more" is EXCLUDING GST.

I wanted to buy some stuff up to about $65 including - do you think I can negotiate free shipping? Any tips you can PM me? ;)

All I said was I can buy this from the Aussie Apple store and receive free shipping, why do I not get that from the NZ store? I also added a list of all the iPhone's I've owned.

In his thick and fake American accent, "I can waiver that for you sir"

So wasn't anything tricky, just had to wait on hold a while until they answered.

To those considering buying from VF on a plan and immediately disconnecting. Don't forget the calendars month notice you need to give to disconnect. Read your T&Cs people

Is it possible to cancel an order from apple if it was brought with a guest account. i.e. not linked to your apple ID?

When you live your life on Twitter and Facebook, and are only friends with like minded people on Twitter and Facebook, you are not living in the real world. You are living in a narcissistic echo chamber.

TreeCrusher:

TBH I don't know why someone would wait 3 weeks to get one from Apple. You might as well just buy one from VF and cancel the contract the next day.

'cos bypassing VF entirely is the only way I can extend my lengthy, yet completely insignificant middle finger to them.

I think buying and then cancelling extends more middle finger to vodafone, particually if you were to port the new number off them the same day over to 2 degrees which is effectivly free to do since they give you credit for bringing a number over .

Yeah but they make money off the phone purhcase AND the cancellation then. I'd rather give them nothing at all, and still leave ;-)

What they make on the phone will be nothing compared to the monthly takings... you could always keep the phone on contract untill the first termination fee drop and then buy out. That gets you half price access for 6 mths =)

Ah ok, I dont really know many people on vodafone anymore other than a work plan they have no say on, so was assuming that it was people joining just for the phone.

edit: Actual a relative is on vodafone stuck on a term of the iPhone $250 plan with no coverage at their house and wanting to leave.

32gb secured on contract, then breaking on Monday. Quite looking forward to it actually.
Pleased to get one before they update again and likely fix the jailbreak hole, although I guess it will soon be worked around again..
