Doubt it. I don't think we'll be seeing models with that OS for a few more weeks. Surely they get images at the factory. I doubt our models will be _that_ fresh off the line.

Who cares either way? It'll just get patched on the first sync.

Not if you restore from your old backup though right?

Quite right, but I wouldn't be doing it that way personally.

Restoring from backups does not affect the firmware installed on the device. It only writes the settings, music, contacts, etc on it.

Also, I believe *some* stores do take "pre-orders" - essentially just a waiting list. I know the store in Palmerston North has a waiting list, and so does the one in Lambton Quay, Wellington (I was told last week there are over 200 people on it).

Why restore a full backup tho when you can just do a sync? Restores in my experience take a lot longer.

Also, waiting lists are a sure fire way to p off a large chunk of potential customers. Imagine hunting for an iPhone, walking in to the next VF shop to hear they have 50 iPhones in stock right now but they won't give you one 'cos you're not on the list... doubly infuriating. Last year they had no waiting lists, or I should say, the shop I was dealing with did not have one. Strictly first come first served.

If some VF stores are running lists, they should be selling them online as well. What's the difference afterall?

but a list would be fairer to those who cannot get to a store every day. I would rather wait in a virtual line then play random lolly scramble.

Maybe someone suggest this in the vodafone forum for virtual queue?

Ordered mine through Apple and 2 weeks to go for delivery!

If they would sell them online already both sides of that argument would win.

Just spent an hour and a half getting to West City and back (supposed to be at my desk actually) because they told me they were getting phones after 3pm. I got there at 2:30pm and the guy was busy telling the guy in front of me (looked like another student) that there were no phones, how mean is that? So I stepped up after that and said your staff told me you were getting phones after 3pm and he admitted that was the case. So I said what's the deal? You want me to queue somewhere then, and he said no just come back after three. Nice so I can try to get fired on the chance that I happen to be in the store when they arrive. So I said can I sign it up now then ready for when they arrive and he says is it a new connection, well yes I am prepay currently. He says well no that's not a new connection, okay I say don't worry about it I'll get a new number and change it later. Oh no you can't do that. He says what model are you after. 32gb. No we don't have any coming (possible lie to get rid of me) . It was awkward and embarrasing, I'm not listening to any more Vodafone staff BS, they are wasting my time and money.

Seriously what a shocking way to be treated. So were you about to be turned away because you are not considered a new contract?

Buy from the Apple Store and vote with your wallet. It's really the only thing you can do.

Because a sync would potentially keep 4.0.2 if it were installed.
