UrbanGrafix: I leave 9days after it is released so I want it before I go lol, otherwise a trek to Canada it will be

Mate just buy it there anyway. They will be sold unlocked, strong rumours are that pricing will be CA$649/749 for the 16/32, which equals about NZ$865/998, plus you can claim the tax back when leaving the country.

My wife is a longhaul flight attendant so guess where I'm getting mine from?!

Ohh you can claim the tax in Canada, I didn't know that.

I am thinking about it, except that I am staying in SF and would have to fly to Canada which is about 350usd lol

Hell, we should all call our local vodafone stores and see what information we can get on our own about the iPhone 4 release and stock

My local store says there are 6 iPhone 4's allocated to NZ. 3 for the North Island and 3 for the South Island. Paul Brislen already claimed his, so that leaves only 2 for North Island.

Has anyone noticed how in the past 12 hours VF on Twitter has been ignoring every iPhone question?

Yeah well I land in Vancouver on 4th of August so that may well be the best option. Using the ratio of 8gb 3gs on NZ site to Canadian site it should be around 900-950 nzd. So long as xrate doesn't tank in next week!

The iPhone has has a lower margin on each phone and that along with the higher demand why sell it cheaply...

It definitely has a lower margin for Vodafone?  I know the internal Apple margins on the new one are slightly down from previous, but do we definitely know that Apple have engineered a higher retail markup on the 3GS?
But yup, fair enough re demand.

Gotta say, that 8Gb 3GS on the $60 plan has to be one of the best deal phones around...

I have been a loyal Vodafone customer for years and I am considering moving to XT as well. I really don't like the lack of communication at all.

True dat, I have both an XT (account) and VF (prepay), and was going to sign up back on account with the VF, but with the lack of info so far I think I will be happy to break that contract (if they wont sell outright of course).  It is some pretty poor PR on their behalf.

It will be an intriguing business case study to follow all this in a week and see who didn't actually get a Vodafone contract and instead bought outright and went to XT or 2deg.
