I'm still going to get one, as soon as i can, i cant wait, to the point i nearly got my mum to que up in the UK and buy me one, wish i had now, 16gb one would have worked out with the exchange rate at the time to only 1100 dollars. and they are unlocked, i tried the online thing pre order, site kept crashing or blocking me from NZ.

Im concerned but not concerned about the antenna issues, i figure the ones we get will have improved. ( hardware somehow) either way i want one of these awesome cases . US pricing applies of course.

Actually maybe i'll ask @oldspice, and see what he thinks.

Element cases are expensive! But, i have pre-ordered 2 when they first launched and i hope to be getting them soon! :D :D

Back to the 0.55% debate. In the world of media, 0.55% = 80% of iPhone users. Go figure.

No, not "smartphones are inherently flawed", but "smartphones [with antennas at the bottom] are inherently flawed".

Nope... one of the smartphones they drew comparisons to was the HTC Droid Eris whose antenna is at the top of the phone. You can see it circled at http://www.apple.com/antenna/

How many people do you see holding the handsets by the top?? Not many. The Apple Aeriel design is flawed no matter what Apple fans say..

+1 and the apple antenna web page imho is a childish way of doing things, lets point fingers at others . . . .

i think what apple were trying to say was that this issue affects all phones, regardless of their antenna design.

having said that, i am not defending apple, i am just offering an alternate interpretation of the press release. i still think they should have applied some non-conductive layer to the external antenna. im sure that would have solved all the problems?

I often hold my iPhone at the top when I'm using speakerphone, as that way both the Mic and Speaker are closer to my face.

All good discussion, but I did start this thread to discuss the launch date rather than the antenna (non) issue. Can we please keep in on topic?

I'm thinking of lining up, though it depends on pricing etc., and whether demand will be high enough to necessitate it.

How much stock went to Vodafone stores for the 3G? Was it mainly just the Queen St store?

I thought I'd line up outside the Queen Street store.  I have the luxury of working 100m away and starting work at 6am helps.  Hopefully they'll open before 9am ... what did they do for the 3GS?

I think if they were going to be in store next friday @vodafonenz would be making more of a deal of it.
