freitasm:

"Antenna design is a complex subject and has been a core competence at Nokia for decades, across hundreds of phone models. Nokia was the pioneer in internal antennas; the Nokia 8810, launched in 1998, was the first commercial phone with this feature. Nokia has invested thousands of man hours in studying human behavior, including how people hold their phones for calls, music playing, web browsing and so on. As you would expect from a company focused on connecting people, we prioritize antenna performance over physical design if they are ever in conflict. "

"In general, antenna performance of a mobile device/phone may be affected with a tight grip, depending on how the device is held. That’s why Nokia designs our phones to ensure acceptable performance in all real life cases, for example when the phone is held in either hand. Nokia has invested thousands of man hours in studying how people hold their phones and allows for this in designs, for example by having antennas both at the top and bottom of the phone and by careful selection of materials and their use in the mechanical design."

Now that's a trip down memory lane! I remember that phone... that really sucked for coverage.

The 8210 wasn't much better, but we sold buckets of them because they were so small.

I'll be ordering from apple website instead of Vodafone. Seems that warranty service is faster when dealing with apple.

Let me rephrase, if vodafone has white ones i will get it from them, if not, i will definitely wait for apple ones.

I'll consider this also, but only if it means I can get it at the same times as I could get it from Vodafone.

mm for replacement/warranty issues, arent they sent to the same place?
hm, i'd be amazing if apple store nz shipped out the phones so you'd receive it on launch day :) something like what apple did in US?

but i guess if you want it on launch day best bet is to go straight to vodafone

I think some in the US even got theirs a day early. Knowing my luck, the courier would loose mine and it'd take forever to get another.

They used to have the phone serviced by the same repairers. However, since late April/May Vodafone has decided to change service repairers, and the lead time can be up to 3 weeks! i think the vodafone forum has mentioned the procedures for warranty services for their customers.

I would hope it doesn't break for the price.

Just avoid putting it in your top pocket and it sailing down the toilet. Should you be bending over the toilet for some reason.

Anyway, I'm worried about the release being on a Friday. I hope they don't run out of stock before I can get away from work and down to the nearest VF shop. I hate it how apple always makes you feel like you're going to miss out!

Perfect timing, I finish up at my current job on the 30th and have to hand in my 3GS so I'll be able to upgrade to a 4 on the same day hopefully.

i reckon ae!!! the idea of lining up is great. too bad that in nz there isnt enough of a demand to warrant having to line up :(

you can still line up tho, you'll just be by yourself :p
