dclegg: I just rang Magnum Mac (0800 622 4682) and the very helpful and apologetic lady told me that it is definite that neither Vodafone nor Magnum Mac stores will be selling the iPhone 4 today, and to look out for an official announcement from Vodafone or Apple later today. I asked her whether this applied to other retailers as well, and she replied that it did and the launch is definitely not happening at all today.

Well, I guess this changes everything. Again. ;)

I don't see how this can just be a spat between Apple and Vodafone, if that's all it was then the phone would be on sale as we speak at Magnum Mac and on the Apple store.

I have a feeling it's more of a supply issue and they're waiting for a plane to head over here from Oz with a few of their spares maybe?

The Apple/Voda guys should all be in their offices now with their lattes so surely someone can cobble together a 2 sentence statement!

Actually it is pretty simple. The stock will have been delivered to Vodafone and they are not releasing it to any other retailers. Vodafone would have released a press statement ages ago if it was just a shipping issue.

Whether it's voda or apple's fault, those two have to applogise to customers. If they couldn't sell it today they should have announced it at least by last night. I'm really angry with two company, gonna get Galaxy S!!

ahmad: A spat between Vodafone and Apple doesn't explain other retailers not selling it today...

unless they all got shipped to vodafone and then apple said they couldn't sell them so vodafone threw there toys and wouldn't distribute them.

You really wouldn't want to. I've had it for 5 days and sold it.

Exactly... guess Vodafone will no longer be the distributor as well the main carrier.

Actually; it does. Vodafone are the official importer in NZ. i.e. Apple Australia supply Vodafone New Zealand with stock for sale and (re)distribution.

Kitanai: I give up.  If Vodafone don't make huge apologies today, I'm going to buy outright from anyone BUT Vodafone, and switch to 2degrees.

shouldnt we all be on 2degrees anyway?

Best thing I ever did was switch from Vodafone to 2degrees

Need microSIM + 3G

There's nothing on their site, but latest rumour is that they'll be doing both of those today.

Might call them up later if they haven't updated their site to find out where 3G is available.

Well, I walked past vodafone flagship store on queen st Akl about 10min ago. About 10 people milling around outside, nil signs on the window about iPhone 4.

I'm now sitting inside cafe tasca on Vulcan lane having brekkie. Cheers to whoever reccmended Vulcan lane!

But why would any kind of spat between Voda and Apple in any way affect Apples ability to sell their own phone on their own website?
