I haven't been bothered to try the new jailbreak, might just wait until an update comes out for XBMC so I can do it all at once.  On Demand seems a bit flaky at the moment.

I'd only do it for the TVNZ ondemand stuff in XBMC.
So isn't it worth doing for that just yet?

TVNZ On Demand works fine, TV3 is flaky but thats a plugin fault which may get resolved soon enough.

PwnageTool for 4.2.1 is out, and is untethered.

myopinion: Yes the Greenpois0n RC6 jailbreak works well on the ATV2. I cant get TV3 on demand to work, but TVNZ on demand does, via XBMC.

Have you had much luck with the TVNZ plugin? When I hit the first break it loops and starts over again, I followed suggestions from the xbmc forums to up the bitrate for the 1500k feeds but seem to have big time buffering issues, but no buffering issues when streaming directly to PC.

Cheers

Hi yes I managed to get the TVNZ plugin working though I haven't used it much. No luck with the TV3 one though.

By the way I emailed USVideo.org with my Netflix problem and this was their reply:

"No, there is nothing you can do... Netflix changed the way they check geo location yesterday. We have got it fixed this morning. Everything is running ok now."

They did indeed fix it, worked perfectly last night Cool

rc6.1 seems to fix the wifi issues - by the way does anyone know how to connect a custom VPN (pptp or ssl)?

I have XBMC running on a jailbroken Apple TV 2. It works great for streaming from our desktop machine. We have also loaded the plugins for TVNZ ondemand and TV3 ondemand.

As noted by others, the TV3 plugin basically doesnt work at all (you can see the shows/channels but the stream will not open if selected).

We also have the same issue on TVNZ ondemand where at the end of each segment (where there is a break for ads), the stream loops back to the beginning of the segment - by fast forwarding through the segment the break works and the next segment plays fine, then the same issue occurs at the end of that segment. Overall though - its an amazing addition to the apple TV and well worth the relatively minor hassle of jailbreaking and Im sure these bugs will be ironed out.

Just a quick question... has anyone tried to use BlueTooth keyboards with their jail broken Apple TV?
Entering info with the remote control is really starting to bug me.
Now... I don't have a Bluetooth keyboard, so I don't want to buy one and then discover that it doesn't work.
Any help?

Hey,

There are no regional settings on the Apple TV2.

To change the time to NZ follow below, worked for me.

SSH into ATV2

cd /private/var/db/timezone
rm localtime
ln -s /usr/share/zoneinfo/NZ localtime
killall AppleTV

Apparenly there is a new version of the plugin on it's way. The current version from what I can determine plays the first segment then has trouble picking up the next because there are multiple files in the smil. (Different resolutions).

You can edit the script to play only 1500k streams but unfortuantly enough hardware decoding is only for h264 and it falls over on TVNZ's HQ strream.

I'm not sure if anyone else has been having instability in XBMC since 4.3 has been released. I was getting crashes every 5 minutes. The fix below solved the problem for me.
