I'll definitely get one this time. I was waiting for version 2 because I'm sure a lot of new features will be added. I can't wait... :)

The ipad Gen 1 screen resolution is too low.

Why didn't they upgrade resolution in the ipad 2? I read mags on my ipad, and the fonts can be fuzzy.

Also, no SD card slot.

And, I've heard, Ram is still 256MB.

Finally, the maximum storage is still 64gb - 120gb would have been nice, especially for high def.

I don't really need the cameras, so there is no incentive for me to upgrade .

However, if the ipad 3 addresses screen resolution then I'll be in!!

Nope, dont care about cameras. Would like the smaller size\weight plus the speed bump but as I mainly use it for watching video, reading and surfing I doubt the speed boost would matter all that much.

I'll stick with gen 1 until gen 3 or 4 I think.

I'm holding out for freitasm to give the best mod (hint: me) an iPad 2 just for the stellar job that mods do.

Yeah March 26th in NZ (at least in the Apple Store) I believe. I'll be getting one, replacing my 16gb WiFi model with a 32gb model. Only thing I haven't decided is whether to go 3G or not. I'd like to have that functionality too but it will depend entirely on what VF do with their current 3gb data promo. If VF keep that going, I'll stick with WiFi only iPad and utilise the WiFi hotspot feature on my iPhone 4 in iOS 4.3. If VF don't keep it (and I'm thinking they won't) it would provide the excuse to check out XT for comparitive data speeds.

To answer an earlier post, yes, Skype works well with camera's on iPhone 4 so should work well with iPad 2.

OK I'll be the first to put my hand up for anyone who is going to want to sell and original iPad WiFi only model.
Of course the price of these has just plummeted with the release date of iPad2 just announced and only a few weeks away! :D

I'll probably stick with my Gen1 until 3 comes out.

I don't think it is much of an improvement over the 1st version, and it may infact be better value buying the 1st generation at a cheaper price, if they are doing that in NZ. I may wait until version 3. I hate the ugly thick bezel, and the screen is pretty low resolution, both problems I think they will fix in the next version.

I have only just got a gen 1 iPad, so there's no gen 2 in my future.

I will be getting V2.
Have been wanting one for a little while but figured it would be worth waiting for the new version.

Clearly you can count me in, and likely the rest of the iPhonewzealand team. Front facing camera is the winner for me, not so much the rear camera though.

Oh and I love the new smart covers, can't wait to see those in action.

Cheers

My plan is to buy every second generation of iPad/iPhone which means that I will upgrade my iPhone 3GS to an iPhone 5 this year, and I will upgrade my original iPad to an iPad 3 next year.

I can't say I'm that impressed with the smart covers. I prefer my existing sleeve style case as it provides padding around the entire device to protect it against impact damage.
