You can try student IT, which is on symond st, next to starbucks or university of Auckland, usually only students queue outside, so if there is a shop that still have some stock, then they are the best bet.

Did you try in a dark room with a black screen and brightness on full, that's how I saw mine.

There are still a few for sale in Wellington if you missed out yesterday and want one. PM me if you want the details :)

Edit: All gone now, sorry.

z2k: Anyone know a store in Auckland that has a 3G iPad 2 left? I lined up for 3 hours @YooBee Newmarket to find they had sold out of 3Gs :(

It's only academic now - but I got to YooBee in Newmarket at 3.30 pm and there were about 200 people in the queue, waiting on the footpath in pouring rain. Decided I wasn't interested in doing that so went back to the car to drive home.

Went past DSE just around the corner from YooBee and thought I would drop in. I got there at about 3.45 pm and the staff said "Yep, we start selling 'em at 5.00 pm." I could not believe there was not one person waiting, so I was first in the queue, just waiting in the shop in the dry and chatting to the staff and other hopefuls as they drifted in. The shop manager gave us each a position number on a card so that the serving would be done fairly when 5 pm came.

By 5.00 there were only about 20 people in total waiting versus hundreds round the corner at YooBee. At 5.05 pm I was back in the car, driving home with a white 64G 3G, the model I wanted.

Now enjoying the iPad - my first ever Apple purchase.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

I waited outside DSE St Lukes from 4.30 pm and the last person to get a 3g model which i was after was the person infront of me. So i went to JB HIFI and they were all sold out aswell. Went home and ordered it online and also waiting to see if my sisters friend can get it via regency on her way back to nz from aussie. Have to wait til 5th june to get mine otherwise. DAMN..

Oh and I called Harvey Norman manukau this morning and they said they had it this morning at 9.30 am so i drove there and got there at 10ish and he said none in stock. So LAME.

Managed to get hold of the last 64GB 3G in black; lined up for 20 minutes for it (first time EVER lining up for a product, hopefully the last...) and was about 8th in the queue. Was really surprised at the socioeconomic status of the other customers, unsure how some of them could afford it... I realize I'm making assumptions based on how people look & act but was surprising nonetheless. If I hadn't sold my original iPad I wouldn't have been so eager, but I was missing reading too much!!

I would presume many people will buy on HP, if they didn't have the cash.
