tardtasticx: How come you dont just buy it in store? lol
Or do the stores not have stock?

No stock unless you want to buy from Trademe scalpers for about $150 extra. If you want the standard price then you have to wait.

Its not so much the wait time as I can understand the supply v demand issue just fine in the retail world.

It's the "we don't know when we are getting them", " we don't know what models we are getting when we do get them in". " apple wont give us any delivery information", " we cant sell them any cheaper than apple direct", " most of our delivered stock goes to pre-orders"  and the best bit " we are doing pre-orders but can't guarantee you will get your model" ??!!

Across 6 outlets they all said Apple played games on the stock delivery so given Apple seem to be spot on with their delivery time of 3 weeks (ish) that looked the better option.

My son (2 year old) desperately wanted one :) - I could not wait and bought one from sella which is brand new never used product from USA with receipt, it actually costed cheaper than online ordering and with warranty.

I have listed my ipad1 for sale for 550 now :)

You might be lucky..There seems to be a theme amongst some previous posts of 16 days start to finish when the website tells you 21.

Just checked mine and its taken 2 days to hit HK.

Mmhhh. Might have been a bit premature in celebrating early postage !!! Having spoken to TNT again today its been sitting in auckland since the 2nd awaiting clearance. Apple website says I'll have it today. TNT don't know where or when their reps will clear it into the system. Then they have to deliver it to nz couriers who then have to get it to cchurch etc etc :(

awaiting a call but now looking like end of week. 2 days to get from china to auckland and 6 days + to get from auckland to the church !

Slightly bemused !!

Is it just me or is it hugely frustrating that the iPad 2 is advertised constantly everywhere yet no one can supply them? I mean I see them on TV nearly every night, they are on billboards, in flyers, on huge posters outside shops etc etc.

Aaaaarrrggghhhh!

On the other hand I guess its pretty clever of Apple (deliberate or not). They get all the retail companies to do the advertising for them, and then the only place the customers can go is the Apple store on line where they do not have to lose any margin to the retailer.

Whew, rant finished.

Thanks for the updates re delivery dates. If android would run Skype I wouldn't bother with one personally, but the wife want one before heading overseas, so at least I know if we have time to order one or not, and at 3 weeks I better get onto it.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation
