The songs get an exclaimation mark and a message saying the original song couldnt be found. Do I want to locate it.  When I click yes, it takes me to the libraries, but the same thing happens.  Any ideas?

Will it not give you an option to browse to the file?

Or change the library location in the XML file.

IME iTunes is pretty sensitive on file location, it likes to keep control over where it puts them and if you change anything (i.e. moving your library to another drive) it doesn't like it too much. Not sure if there is a better way but I just deleted the whole library and reloaded it from the new location, gave me a chance to have a tidy up while I was at it.

itunes is a hopeless at arranging music files...you could try to manually locate each of your files...

I tried once to let itunes manage my music (as recommended by the apple support site)....but, tried to move all my files into it's own location, was a nightmare to fix.

All the playlists get stuffed too.

Thank you all so much for replying.  I did click "try to locate", but it just took me to previous libraries and when I opened them they looked just the same as the one I was in and reacted the same way.  I am too scared to do anything, so I think I will try and find someone who can do it for me and perhaps clean my computer at the same time!  Will let you know the result.  Can anyone suggest somewhere to take it in Auckland?
