I will be. Of course, it depends on whether Vodafone actually has any in store and whether a contract will be required (if it is, I will tell them where to shove it and probably cancel my current contract, not so happy with them lately). I am curious which color and capacities you guys will all get? I will probably go for the white 32/64GB.

I've got a 4, but will sell that as its mint 32Gb, and get a 64Gb Black. Although 64Gb is overkill, may get 32Gb. I read the other night, that more memory may mean more battery usage. Is that true?

I doubt it, its not like a hard drive where there would be more disks to spin, for example. Its all solid state so can't see any reason for that. If it did affect it they would have mentioned it.

I thought I would compare the costs of the 4S in various countries (not factoring in things such as taxes, shipping or anything like that, just the outright cost) to get a feel for what the price is that we should be expecting here in NZ. If we are luckily it should be something similar to the Australian pricing. (The symbols have been mucked up on the German/Spain/UK pricing they are in Euros/Euros/Pounds respectively)

iPhone 4S 16GB (local vs. NZ dollars)

Australia: $799 = $1046
Spain: ?599 = $1044
Germany: ?629 = $1096
UK: ?499 = $1010

Average: $1049
Range: $1010 to $1096

iPhone 4S 32GB (local vs. NZ dollars)

Australia: $899 = $1177
Spain: ?699 = $1219
Germany: ?739 = $1288
UK: ?599 = $1213

Average: $1224
Range: $1177 to $1288

iPhone 4S 64GB (local vs. NZ dollars)

Australia: $999 = $1309
Spain: ?799 = $1393
Germany: ?849 = $1480
UK: ?699 = $1415

Average: $1399
Range: $1309 to $1480

sorry to say but you wasted your time. the pricing has been announced.

"iPhone 4S comes in either black or white for a recommended retail price of NZ$ 1,049 for the 16GB model, NZ$ 1,199 for the 32GB model and NZ$ 1,349 for the new 64GB model. The company says iPhone 4S will be sold through the Apple Online Store and select Apple Authorised Resellers.

The iPhone 4 is now available for NZ$ 899 and iPhone 3GS is available for NZ$599. "

Yep, I was a bit slow too.... Must have missed that one. My averaged out pricing was fairly spot on though.

I'm looking at pre-ordering however the 11th is a public holiday here in Christchurch (show day) which means the couriers won't be working. Hoping I can pre-order with Vodafone and choose to pick it up in one of their retail stores on Friday.

I would have done that, if it wasn't a public holiday on that Friday and have to wait until Monday for it to arrive.  Yes, I'm impatient :P
