Yes.. When I ordered from AU.. they will only charge your CC when its shipped

You get an option to cancel the order until its shipped and thus no charge will be on your CC if you cancel before its shipped.

codyc1515: They take it out the moment it ships I'm pretty sure.

Kind of. They'll take payment and from that point you can't cancel, then it gets packed and shipped. In my experience they usually take payment the day before shipping so as they haven't taken it today yet I can't imagine it will be shipped tomorrow either. Will keep my fingers crossed though

Cosmin:
reconfine: from the vodafone plan table:

** If you're on a 1, 12 or 24 month term you’ll get 1GB of data each month for 6 months while you remain on the plan. 1GB Add-On available for $20 per month after that period.

just add it on to the smart 45 or smart 65 and the only real difference is the initial handset discount.

<___< stop being precious.

You are then essentially making a $45 plan into a $65, and a $65 into a $85.
Might as well move to Telecom then and keep your costs low.

considering the argument seems to be about people wanting more data (and not anything else) adding data onto a smaller vodafone plan seems to be the solution:

TIME FOR A M****F**** BREAK DOWN!!!!!

Telecom
300txt  100mins  1GB Data  $549(4S 16GB)
Total $60/month

Vodafone Smart 45 with 1gb data added on ($45/month the first 6 months)
2500txt  100mins  250mb Data (+1gb for $20/month)  $649 (4S 16GB)
Total $65/month (45/month + 20$ for 1gb of data)

the 100$ handset difference seems like it would be offset by the first 6months of 1GB extra free from VodaFone (worth 6 x $20) ami right?

Just sayin

codyc1515: I try to avoid paying for anything with Credit Card with Apple as they almost always try to charge me two or three times for what I'm buying. iTunes store is fine but anything else and it almost certainly gets mucked up. Knowing your luck you'd try that and go buy it in store then they take the money out... lol

You could be right, especially as I only managed to complete the order last friday once and when I checked my account I had three completed orders for six iPhones!

I paid by debit card so at least I can track the payment in realtime online with my bank account.

Keep a watchful eye out, even on the Debit Cards you can still get overdrawn but only under one circumstance that I am aware of. Basically you have to have had a payment pre-authorised and it must not have shown up yet (due to the biller taking a while to process it) and then spending that same money. If you are quick and put the money back while its still pending they shouldn't charge you the overdraft fee, otherwise they will. I'm with Westpac and have had this happen a few times now, not sure its legal though considering I'm only 16 and to get an overdraft you have to be 18.

I'm losing hope that they will get shipped tomorrow but I am also hoping for that, then a Monday delivery :)

Curious where the ones from Telecom are actually shipping out from though, Auckland I would imagine. This will probably affect the shipping time too, especially as I'm in the lower south island right now.

I'm with Westpac too and I know some companies do put the whole charge through but this doesn't seem the case with Apple as they have put a $1 charge (actually did it three times as they put three orders through for me) on the account so presume it will be ok. But as you say, it's best to be vigilant.

Any word on the disconnection fees for both VF and Telecom?

Actually no.

$5 per month extra and the $100 handset difference equates to a $220 difference at the end of the 24 month term.

EDIT: Actually... considering that one would not get the $20/1GB add-on for the first 6 months (if one only wanted 1GB per month) then that would equate to a $100 difference at the end of the term. But my initial point is correct since you still would have shelled out more.
