On time and as expected I'd say! That is 3-5 days as from 11th

Cheers and have fun, and let us know your first impressions.

Others may not have arrived just yet. I'd say the main reason it was so quick was the old granny on her scooter racing around here and the fact that theres just not a lot of mail going around right now.

Damn! Dilemma time, what you going to do? Keep the black or wait for a replacement?

I think I will stay with the Black, heard not a lot of good things about the whites (e.g. factory defects such as dust under screens, cameras, etc) but if this had have happened to somebody else I am sure they would have been suitably pissed.

I'd very much doubt there's any difference in build to mean there is more likelihood that the white would have dust under the screen where the black doesn't as they will be made using the same production process, and possibly the same production lines. White may show up the dust more but it's not like they'd build them in a dirty factory.

Good that you're happy to keep the black. Treat it as fate that you got that instead :-)

One thing I would suggest checking though is what it says on your delivery note/invoice, does it say black or white? Also check the serial numbers match as it may cause you problems in the future if you have a problem and all this info doesn't match up. It may have been that in the rush to get it out on Friday that the wrong iPhone was put in the wrong package.

All the emails to Telecom clearly say White. All the packaging says Black and is Black. A quick check of the serial on the Apple website reveals something interesting though that I haven't seen before (even with previous iPhones): "Valid Purchase Date: A validated purchase date lets Apple quickly find your product and provide the help you need.". This must mean that they had entered the serial number into Apples systems on the shipping day because otherwise it shows an estimated date for the Warranty. Could it be that they ran out of white iPhones and just shipped a black one?

Could you maybe send me a reference number and invoice number? Although you may be happy to keep it I'd like to flag to the team that this has happened. I would of thought a customer should be contacted if the colour needed to change prior to sending it out.

Apologies for this.

Does the serial number on the paperwork you received with your iPhone match the serial number on the iPhone though? That's the important bit.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty certain the iPhone is only allowed its activation when it has been entered into the system on sale, thus making a shipment of stolen iPhones worthless, which is why it will have Fridays date on it.

It doesn't have Fridays date on it, it has yesterday/todays (I think). As for the serial its the same on the device and on the box. On the "Proof of Purchase" it has "IPHONE 4S 32GB - BLACK" although all the customer references and track and trace numbers are same. This must mean that somewhere along the line the order got changed from a white to a black.
