According to Stuff:

Vodafone spokesman Matt East said initial sales of the iPhone 4S exceeded expectations. "Unfortunately due to the high volume of sales to date  we are unable to continue launch pricing on $45 and $65 plans."

Telecom's cheapest iPhone 4S two-year plans cost $40 and $60 a month.

What an fracking disaster, and a major

Either a plan subsidy is economic or you don't do it.

You get more and more the feeling that these plans were hatched at the last minute after Telecom's prices were made public.

I am on a wait list for a iPhone with VF and I am thinking of simply telling them to stuff it and I will port my number across to XT...

Maybe a bit a negative social media can get VF to back down on this major marketing FAIL..

The (slightly older) Galaxy S (I9000) is just as feature rich in my opinion, and the S II looks very attractive, too...

Just saying...  Smile

Hi,

Does anyone know where (retail store) I can purchase a 4S 16GB outright? I know I can get it from Apple Store NZ. The other day I tried Noel Lemmings, Vodafone, and Telecom stores, but they won't see without at least a monthly (no-term) contract.

But it's Android.....

I'm sure if he wanted an Android phone he would look at the Galaxy! I could understand your suggestion if this was a discussion about different Android phones but a bit pointless when he's wanting an iPhone!

I agree, it never matched with their previous pricing of the 3GS and 4 and looks even more now that it was just a reaction to Telecom's prices and a last minute decision. They are showing their real colours again now!

Got mine from Telecom with no plan too, as did loads of other people. Just ask for it on prepay and pay full price. Maybe Telecom aren't selling them on prepay anymore though!?

This latest announcement from Vodafone pissed me off as a matter of principle. I've been a customer since the Bell South days, but lately I've felt poorly treated. A few months back, they doubled the minutes on the plan I'm on, but I wasn't entitled to them unless I locked myself in for two years. That's typical of Vodafone, instead of saying "thanks for being a customer for 16 years and you're obviously loyal and unlikely to move, let's reward you," they'd rather bully you.

So after just seeing them getting slapped about yet again by gov agencies when they've been sneakily overcharging their customers and seeing their prices for the iPhone were going up, I went straight out the door this afternoon and signed up with Telecom. Heck, I wasn't even in the market for a new phone, but I figured I needed to celebrate leaving them...

Thats what happens when a company is run by shortsighted accountants, they only look at the figures now and don't realise how their actions affect the future. They seem to expect their customers to be loyal to them with no loyalty back. Bad practice and they deserve everything they will get with diminishing customer numbers

"'back in the day"TM Vodafone was seen as a nimble upstart underdog, fighting for market share from the dominant player Telecom, and many customers joined simply to "stick it to the man"

But now Vodafone have begun behaving like an incumbent, not honouring their pronouncements, generally annoying customers, and certainly giving new users any real reason to sign up with them,,,

Their underdog position has been taken by 2D, and their hip coolness is evaporating

my how the worm has turned,

The only people complaining are those that have not taken up or have no intention of taking up the launch offer. Who seriously thought that these subsidies would carry on forever? I secured the wife's 4s before launch as i knew it was an awesome deal and figured it probably would not be around for ever.

Im on VF, i managed to lock in double minutes and 3gb/mth data for life as well as a $500 subsidy on my S2 so i find it hard to complain about VF (maybe a NZ bestmate option would be the icing on the cake). The wife is on XT, $900 subsidy on a 16gb 4s, again I am stoked at the value

Mobile telco deals come and go, assess the deal and if it is good lock it in, no point crying about it after the fact
