DjShadow Can you easily repeat that test and get the same result?

If so I will do some checks on Monday as Matamata was upgraded a while back, Will send you PM for the mobile number that was used

wonderstuff: Hi,

here are some updated tests for me.    These were performed in Mairangi Bay.

           WiFi            Telecom XT               Vodafone
Ping         25                    53                         48         ms
DL       13.64                 10.56                     9.75         Mbps
UL         0.83                  2.28                     0.94         Mbps

The WiFi (using 802.11n on a empty 5GHz band) is connected to a ADSL2 router connected to a nearby Telecom cabinet and is on a Telecom plan.   Going by these results, I might look into changing provider!

We don't seem to have Vodafone DC-HSDPA here.

Regards

Mike

Interesting that you got such high upload on XT, I wasn't aware that they had cat6 HSUPA live anywhere on their network yet.

Not too sure about the category HSUPA side of things, but I repeated the tests on XT and got UL speeds of 2.64Mbps this time.

DjShadow: I just got myself the new iPad (3rd gen), tried a speedtest from Matamata which is in the middle of an RBI zone. Not very impressive as the one above I hate to say

I would concur with this too; I have found speeds of the Matamata site to be not as expected for an RBI upgraded site. Keep meaning to do some proper testing, but just haven't had the time last couple times I've been in the area.

Suggest create a new topic if any more on to add on this one.

Chorus has spent $1.4 billion on making their xDSL broadband network faster and even more now as they are upgrading their rural Conklins. If your still stuck on ADSL or VDSL, why not spend $195 on a master filter install to make sure you are getting the most out of your connection?
I install - Naked DSL, DSL Master Splitters, VoIP, data cabling and general computer support for home and small business.
Rural Broadband RBI installer for Ultimate Broadband and Full Flavour

Do the customers need to test every cellsite now?

Not at all if customers are getting sub performance like this example was " Slow uplink " was a sign something was not right, So a quick check of the config and issue was found and set right, Restart the 3G site and bobs your uncle,

Customers can call 0800 921021 and select mobile broadband and get a ticket logged
