I have 2 of the new Chromecast Audios that are surplus to requirements. Anybody want one?
This is the new model that has an optical/stereo jack out, only does audio.
They will have the US power adapter, so be aware that you'll need a NZ adapter or USB power plug.
$80 each including postage (might be more for rural) or $150 including postage for the both of them.

Hey, have you listed a price, location and how much shipping would be to other parts of New Zealand? Also if you are asking for a PM make sure your Privacy settings allow your account to receive PM otherwise people can't contact you. Also note if you are selling something we ask you to offer to other members first. Links to private sales (including Trade Me posts) aren't accepted anymore and will be removed.

Probably not getting any nibbles because people don't want to spend that much

It's something that I've been interested in to have in the car, but I was surprised that they're the same price as the normal hdmi chromecast. I think of the audio chromecast as being effectively in the same category as a bluetooth audio adapter. I know it's better quality than that with more features, but it seems a little inbetween different areas.

For others potentially interested about using one in a car there's a discussion on reddit that covers most of the things you'll need to know.

I'd never thought of using it in the car. How would that work with streaming? Wouldn't the chromecast have to be connected to wifi (or mobile data) for it to work?
I was kinda suprised they wern't cheaper than HDMI versions too, I guess they justify it by saying you can use optical for a higher quality experience.

Here's that discussion from Reddit - https://www.reddit.com/r/Chromecast/comments/3mvwbt/would_chromecast_audio_work_in_my_car_via/

I would want to double check the boot up time for them, but no one in that thread mentioned it, so presumably not an issue.

But, yeah, idea is nfc tag to turn on tethering. Chromecast connects to the wifi network on your phone. Hit play/cast. Bonus points for wireless charging at the same time.

Apparently you can't configure the chromecast while it is tethered to your phone, because the configuration app insists that you're on wifi, which you're technically not. So there's a bit of fiddling around to get that arranged first.
