At the moment I'm just checking if anyone would be interested on this, not sure about the value of it, was around $400K new :)

A pair of EMC CX4 Fibre Channel SANs, around 4 years old, no longer covered by the EMC warranty.

Each of the units have 30x1TB 7.2K SATA drives and 42x450GB 15K SAS drives, to the total raw capacity across is around 96TB.

I have upgraded the disk / unit firmware to the latest before decommissioning.

If the shelves are consolidated into one SAN and mirroring is not enabled the usable capacity is around 60-65TB with some spare drives.

They don’t come with the FC switches, but all cables, controller modules are with the units, I can get FC switches if required.

Perfect for test / dev environments, but might be a bit noisy and power hungry for a home NAS :)

It is currently located at the South Island, however can arrange transport nearly anywhere in NZ.

Hey, have you listed a price, location and how much shipping would be to other parts of New Zealand? Also if you are asking for a PM make sure your Privacy settings allow your account to receive PM otherwise people can't contact you. Also note if you are selling something we ask you to offer to other members first. Links to private sales (including Trade Me posts) aren't accepted anymore and will be removed.

MikiPro took our old EMC Clariion off our hands after it was put to pasture. Does Spark no longer like EMC? :)

I now have serious storage envy - my humble setup has 24TB raw, with 18 usable because of the raid setup. When fully populated it will top out at 36/42TB, depending on whether I stay with RAID5 or go to RAID6.

Much as 96TB sounds nice, than many spinning platters (30+42)x2 would probably take my whole spare room, drive me mad with noise, and send my electric bill through the roof. It's also probably overkill for streaming music & films to two media players over 100mbit. It might, however, heat the house nicely in winter laughing

Sorry for my ignorant question, but any chance you might want to flick two of the 450GB Drives separately? I imagine not, but in case. I presume they are 2.5" SAS?

Otherwise best of luck finding a buyer, that is seriously nice hardware.

They are 3.5" drives, I will upload some photos on Friday.

If there won't be any serious interest in the next few weeks I might split it up and just sell the drives.

Around 10K maybe?

You can easily make 20K by just selling the disks on eBay :)

How much does it weigh?
