What preamp did you buy?

Musical fidelity v90 LPs, bit of an impulse buy.

A very good impulse buy  wink

Deserves a decent turntable.  smile

Haha yea I think I'm in too deep now.

Have been considering the project carbon espirit SB DC, or project xpression comfort as mentioned above (which can be bought from Europe for a similar price inc shipping and duty)

So just a quick update. As I struggled to find anything second hand, and ran out of patience, I decided to buy one at the weekend.

It was on offer, and way under my budget so thought I'd give it a try.

What do you guys think, any good:

ok sorry that was just a joke (I'm sad like that). Here's what I actually ended up getting:

Now I just need some longer (3m) rca cables to hopefully eliminate the hum from the pre-amp.

Can anyone recommend any?

Presumably you bought a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Esprit (hard to tell from the photo).

What cartridge are you using?

Pre-amp hum is usually due to an earth loop - the length of your RCA leads should be irrelevant - except that shorter is usually better..

Yes that's it, the espirit SB DC. The extra cost was justified by working out the cost of the debut carbon, plus speed box and acrylic platter.

It came with the ortofon 2m red.

I did try the earth cable on the receiver but it didn't make any difference. I read that an isolator can help but affects the sound.
I also read that it may help moving the preamp and tt away from the receiver. It's also next to my htpc and TV which may cause there issue.
