I dont have a NetMD but do have a lot of minidiscs recorded from a digital source that id like to get back to a MP3 or FLAC. Would Sonicstage be good to do this I i got access to a NetMD? or is there a better way?

I have managed to get it working on Windows 10 after finding some updated drivers online. I am using it for the car as well.

Ok I'm pretty sure you'll just want the standard MDs. I'm no expert but not heard of a car player that accepts the 1GB discs.

I didnt think about that, the headunit in the car says MDLP, I think I will stick to the standard ones.

MDLP is when they replaced the atrac codec with a newer one, much like AAC replaced MP3 for other things. I only had a LP capable portable, my comonent sized deck didnt do it so never really bothered with it to see if there was a noticiable loss of quality since I was just using junk headphones in it for when I was on the bus at the time in the long past history.

Yes you can, that is the whole point of them, unlike CD-RW which was a erase the whole thing and start from scratch each time routine. Man was the erasing of RW discs the slowest annoyingest thing. Well not as annoying as when I bought a component CD-RW recorder and then found that it needed stupid overpriced blanks to use it.

To get the songs back off the MD into the PC, it was just a case of burning it onto a CD-R in the component system and then ripping that. I did try putting the optical out of the component player into the in on a nice bit accurate realtek sound card and recording that, but there was no passing of track marks that way. I was constantly using the portable with optical in to record off CD's at other peoples houses and then dumping that thru the standalone CD-RW drive and then ripping those CDs. I seem to recall I had to change something on the CD-RW recorder for it to record off the MD, otherwise it had some copy protection error.

With Sonic Stage 4.3 and the Net MD, it looks like you can take songs off the minidisc to your computer.
