Hey all,

I am keen to get a hold of an older C2d or C2Q machine to use as a server at home. Seen them around for $50 with 4-8GB ram without HDD's no GPU. A HP machine would suit, Anyone got a cheap machine to suit that they would like to trade for beer or cash? I am based in Auckland, Will be heading south this friday evening so can pickup from that area then.

Cheers

PM me if you don't have any other offers, as I can likely find something without looking too hard.

I know it is likely a little expensive but take a look at the oDroid Home Cloud One. Will use vastly less power and yet can do heaps.

Yeah that would be cool but thinking of putting one of those at my dads house and having that sync with a server of mine in Auckland here. I would like to run some windows apps so need a PC.

I've got some HP xw Workstations that may suit but I'm in Hawkes Bay.

Happy to crank up and check specs of you can collect or are happy to pay freight.

PM if interested.

I think shipping would break my back on those ones, if you know how much shipping would be roughly and the machines are cheap and of good spec i would do it!
Interested in spec, Aiming for Wolfdale or Yorkfield chips. 4-8GB RAM, No HDD, 4-6 sata ports or card. Gigabit network and if someone has a spare network card i'll happily throw that in if cheap enough.

Sata cards too, idk how cheap they are tho, would like to do a raid 10 on 4 1tb drives i have.

I have an old HP Tower at home somewhere, not sure of model but think it has a 2.1ghz Core 2 duo? Probably got no ram in it though.

Not sure if you want HP because of proprietary PSUs and stuff like that.

Cheers

Shipping appears to be is about $35 via parcel post for the dimensions and up to 15kg (workstation is 13.8kg)

XW4400 E6320 4GB (2x2gb) Gigabit 6XUSB 4xSATA

XW4400 QX6700 5GB (2x2gb + 2X512mb) Gigabit 6xUSB 4xSATA

XW4600 Q9300 8GB (4x2gb) Gigabit 8xUSB (one internal) 1xeSATA 5xSATA

Looking at trademe i think  they may be worth a bit more than $50 (and would probably prefer to hang on to the XW4600) but open to offers via PM.

All support 3x 3.5 HDD and have an addtional 3x 5 1/4 bays which you can add another HDD with an adapter.

All working and tested.

Ooo, Thats a nice board and the CPU is in line with the Intel ones posted above so I would have to default to that due to shipping from down the line.
I can take this off your hands in this case, Let me PM you and find a suitable time.

Cheers
