Hi all,

my mum has old Advanced Computers PC running G645 on Asrock H71 board and I am trying to help her upgrade to make her new photo hobby work better.

I was looking at the CPU support list and it takes a lot of units - www.asrock.com/MB/Intel/H71M-DGS/index.asp#CPU

Anyone got something from that list in an I5 or better I could swap in with the new SSD I got from PBTech

Trademe seems to have a lot of I5-2xxx for around $50 which would be my planB

Cheers in advance

I5 2500 or 2400, Look on trademe. It is a GREAT CPU.
A user here offered me A 3770S, Want me to check up?

Edit: Didn't you offer me this?

Hahah thats right :D, I recall how I know ya!
Good to hear the new central heating system is working out for you! I thought it was going to be an Ornament at best!
Let me dig tonight! Or do it for me and check my posts looking for intel gear in the Offers and Wanted forum. TBH you will probably find everything you need there, I had a lot of response and people offering things but most was out of my budget or path.

Cheers

Sandy bridge was a massive turning point for intel chips. They became 40% more powerful than the first generation (Nehalem). And a lot more power efficent.
Finding Ivy Bridge and Sandy Bridge chips is difficult because they are still good chips. Esp the i5 2400/2500/2600 and the 3000 series.

I recently bought an ex-lease one from TM for $120. Chucked an SSD in it and was very impressed with how well it went.
