Before I buy a NETGEAR Nighthawk S8000 or similar maybe someone has something to sell me?

5-8 ports is enough but has to be Gigabit switch.

Anyone have something?

I got one of earlier versions of these years ago (over 10) and its been rock solid: https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/SWHTPL1010/TP-Link-TL-SG1008D-8-Port-Gigabit-Unmanaged-Switch Under $40 - cant go wrong with that!

That nighthawk is advertised as a gamers special, low latency, super this and slick that, it's all snake oil, steer clear, above advise is sound.

I have a couple of cheap TP-Link gigabit switches, one has been behind a sofa for a few years, no problems at all. PBTech / Ascent.

Snake oil. In a home environment a switch is a switch. Please, can we stop buying network products with the words “gaming” and “low ping” in either the title or the description?

As suggested above. Just go and buy a cheap gigabit switch. I’ve got a few TP-Link $30 jobbies and they’re totally fine.

TP Link 8 port gig switch here and no complaints. A switch is as standard as a power strip these days. Don't buy the hype.

I mean unless you actually need a proper switch with sustained speeds for high transfer rates any old one from pbtech will do the job....
