Doing a clear out. Before I recycle it, anyone have a use for this tablet? Comes with charger.

It's EXTREMELY slow, but will run a web browser like Opera Mini. It's really quite heavy as well. The battery life is poor, best used plugged in, and it needs this specific charger as it's a high voltage one (supplied). I had a quick play and couldn't get any websites to load, but it is connected to WiFI.

You may need to download a ROM and re-flash it, so this is really for an enthusiast or parts. I'm not going to bother doing any more testing or messing around with it.

It's probably junk to recycle, just in case though.

Preference to anyone in Wellington who will collect in central Wellington.

I bought one of these brand new. Back then it was pretty much the peak product of Android devices - storage expansion x 3, solid construction, a proper convertible device with a real keyboard that attached firmly & really worked. Plus that metallic Asus logo on the lid for added cool. It often attracted envious enquires - with the excellent build quality, I'm not surprised that there's still some in working order. That charger must be getting a bit hard to find now though?

As usual, I ripped that standard firmware out immediately & ran CyanogenMod with just the apps I wanted, not Asus & Google's preferred choices.

Megabyte - so geek it megahertz

It still works fine, but it's really quite slow now, even with a third party ROM. The charger works fine too. It's very, very solid and quite heavy. No keyboard though.

I dug out an old Samsung tablet the other day and fired it up. Like yours, mine was very slow to do anything with. I don't remember it being this slow when I bought it. Even after doing a factory reset it was still really slow. Makes me wonder if there's something in them that slows them down after a couple of years in order to make you buy a new one...

Wasn't Apple doing something like that a while ago, slowing down iPhones 'to help the devices battery', or some such equally devious trick?

Yeah it was quite fast in its day. I assumed my expectations had changed.

shapes in Auckland wants it, but if anyone in Wellington wants it and will collect they get first dibs as I can't really be bothered going to the post office since NZ Post closed most of them.

You can use TradeMe's Book a Courier feature - they'll collect it from your house (or address of your choosing).

Yeah, but then I have to find a box, package, etc. If someone local wants to collect it great, otherwise I'll find a box, pack it, etc.

@shapes who wanted this isn't replying to messages, so last chance at this before I toss it out or find some way to recycle it
