Hi,

I have some (8" woofers) in wall speakers, which produce mostly treble.  I use a 'medium' subwoofer to provide low range but also frequencies a bit higher than just sub sonic, to fill the void that the in walls can't produce.  I'm not after earthquake styles (been there Cool, but have young kids now)

My cheap as$ kenwood alien head woofer just died, even after I fished the kids toys out of it.  I'm looking for something to replace this and just wondering if anyone had anything they're not needing any more.

Trademe has some Sony 12" jobs for around $100 so I might keep an eye on those.  I know what's nice, and then I know what I can afford, so mostly just after something that can extend the in walls down a bit, but not to the pits of hell sort of thing.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

I remember opening mine up and it only had about 6" driver!

What's happened to yours? Not repairable?

Mine didn't power up, spent a while stripping it all down but nothing obvious on the amp/power supply circuit boards. Looking for the obvious blown caps etc but nothing leapt out saying pick me. There were way to many capacitors to start randomly changing them all so I got angry with it and threw it out in the trash.

It cost me $50 6 months ago, so I got a wee bit out of it. Was stunning though as it included a remote control sensor and motorised volume pot, which tied into my harmony remote really well.

Sorted.

Went with a Sony SA-WM40 off trademe.
Old now but we'll see how it runs when I pick it up tomorrow. Seems I'll need to stuff it with polyfill first though....

Cheers all.
