I recently picked up a Navman C40 from DSE, and overall I am very happy with it, especially considering the price!
$200 bucks gets a very nifty little device.

My only issue is that I cannot work out how to enable spoken street names. I know the unit does it, when I first used it, it would speak (sometimes with humorous results) the street names when navigating a pre-programmed route.
However now it doesn't, and I can't work it out!
I have thoroughly read the manual, and nowhere does it mention spoken street names.
I've tried tapping and holding various buttons, googled a lot, and looked repeatedly through all the prefs, but I am stumped.

Anyone know how to enable/disable this feature?

Thanks,
Joseph

Can you choose a different language on the unit? If so, it may be a differently labelled english voice file. Check and see which ones you have available and that you aren't using the wrong one some how.

Hi Disrespective, thanks for your reply.
Sorry, my post could have been a bit more clear... the spoken voice (Karen AUS?) does work correctly when speaking directions/instructions ("turn right","destination on the left" etc). So I don't think the issue lies with the voice components of the software.
The only speech issue is that it does not speak street names.
I'm sure I've just enabled an undocumented feature, but it's so frustrating to not be mentioned in the user manual!

Cheers,
Joseph

Jofizz, my comments still stand. Often there is a separate voice file which is capable of speaking street names as well as the directions and others which will only speak directions. Check the device to see if you have any others that are english and see if they will speak street names for you.

Disrespective, you are completely right!
I've changed spoken languages, and one WILL speak the street names, and one will NOT.
Specifically "English (AUS) Karen" and "English (AUS) Lee" will speak the street names.
"English Australian Female" voice does not.
My only remaining issue, is that the latter one sounds to be higher quality, i.e. nicer sounding overall, but does not speak street names. Oh well.

Cheers,
Joseph
