Like Zeon said, probably setup on the wrong downstream profile/plan. However with that aside and the current posted speedtest result:

1: Domestic latency half that of ADSL2+
2: More than 3x the NZ average ADSL2+ downstream line rate of 10Mbit (FTTN/cabinetisation goal)
3: More than 20x higher upload than ADSL2+

I would still upgrade to it!

I agree! Don't let my results put anyone off... This is probably just some teething issues with the rollout and I'm sure the guys at Orcon will sort it out

I haven't tried any gaming yet, but I'm hoping that NZ <-> AU latency is around 20 - 30ms

BTW - we have installed our own Speedtest server speedtest.orcon.net.nz - should be the best way to test speeds on our network.

TBH Quentin those speed tests are not good for testing connections this fast. I just tried yours and got these results:

Download Speed: 84081 kbps (10510.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 101163 kbps (12645.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 6 ms
Wed May 30 2012 14:38:11 GMT+1200 (New Zealand Standard Time)

Tried Wolrd Exchange's one and got 300mbps...

You need to rethink your testing method.

Yeah, OP needs to try some other server's in AKL and compare - Also those is that test done over wireless or ethernet?

If Chorus screwd the prov up I'd expect it to be 30/10 not 30/30 so looks like either Orcon's prov mess up or that their speedtest box is overloaded

Most problems are the result of previous solutions...

We just got 651 down and 481 up on our connection - so not overloaded and is coping with some pretty darn high speeds :)

Hmmm...I'm right outside the cabinet so my ADSl speed is 2/3 of that.

I don't care about upload speed .

I doubt I'd notice much difference in the ping, not a gamer.

Probably it comes down to cost I suppose.

I did try several other servers, even one in Tauranga... and the speed is pretty rock solid at 30/30... I also understand that these tests arent definitive... I'd never use wireless for this either :p

Where are you located booGZ?

You should be getting 100/50 easy.

Have you tried bypassing the router and using windows to authenticate the connection instead?

Here is my results on VDSL to orcon's speed test server

Last Result:
Download Speed: 65572 kbps (8196.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 9604 kbps (1200.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 4 ms

That wont work with Orcon.

But this is much better today:

I also disabled a bunch of stuff in the genius router as well... dam thing is way underpowered.

Have you got any pictures of the installation?

Eg where they came onto your property, where they broke into the house and installed ONT and so on? seems to be a hot topic right now.
