networkn: What is the cable loss number used for NZ? It defaults to 13.81 but I know my DS Attentuation is 2dB which calculates my connection at 90 but it's 70.
mercutio: it's actually impossible to sync at 24 megabit in nz on non-llu adsl (actually there's a kind of cheat called snr tweaking).
McGee: You can do that on the FritzBoxes too but it does void the warranty in order to do so.
Napster has details on how to go about it last time I checked.

Sounds intriguing!

Is that because you have to activate telnet in order to do the tweak?

Yes it writes something to the PCB and it will always say it's unsupported by the manufacture and no matter how many factory resets or firmware down/up grades etc that you do it won't go away.
McGee: Well that's just from experience, Did it on mine and can't get rid of it and same with a mate who's got one.
I asked AVM about it and they've said they can't offer support for it.
McGee: I think it's mainly cause of what you can do with the telnet access, I only used it cause I was running a PABX behind my fritz and needed to port forward 5060 to an IP rather than the device itself.
