I started the topic on the high ping issue last time, that was affecting Auckland customers. That issue was fixed eventually thanks to Ben from Slingshot, but now im experiencing high ping to Australia.

Have experienced it three nights in a row now, only just started collecting some tracerts and pings though.

Not too bad tonight, but still stopping me from gaming. Highly annoying, i rung slingshot helpdesk and they won't look into it till the issue is reported more. Exactly the same thing they said about the ping issue last time, and that was only fixed thanks to Ben here on the forums.

Issue is still happening tonight, won't post anymore screenshots unless someone is actually interested, which it seems like no one is. Not even Slingshot :\

Losing hope.

Slingshot helpdesk also told me that I should be expecting higher latency times during the evening and they found it strange that I had been previously unaffected. So for over a year, I have been experiencing a latency of 31-36ms to Sydney, every night without fail, and now they're telling me the high ping is normal?  WTF?!

Time to move ISP by the sounds of things

The ping's you showing are not "high" ping rates this is international traffic and normal latency can range from 20ms to 350ms what your getting is on the good end of international latency.

Hi Anbo,

In my experience, the ping times you are reporting (in the range of 30ms ->50ms) seem about right for pinging Australia? i.e. 0.05 of a second. I wouldn't regard these as being excessive, but perhaps I haven't understood what you are saying.

We are keen to help you - Can you email me directly on scott.page@team.slingshot.co.nz?

Kind Regards

I'm with Slingshot unlimited Naked ADSL plan and recently my ping has been getting really bad at night, special to Australian gaming servers.

My favorite Servers I mostly play on. The highest its ever been was about 80

Ping the server 203.217.24.70

All the server sort by ping, most of them NZ base, at first look

I've also observed this happening during peak time. Makes playing games very difficult.

Nebbie: The ping's you showing are not "high" ping rates this is international traffic and normal latency can range from 20ms to 350ms what your getting is on the good end of international latency.

How is 300ms to Australia considered acceptable? 300ms to Europe, sure. But the east coast of Australia? :/

Edit: Have observed pings of 140~ms to servers in Sydney which should be ~40ms. Looks to me to be a capacity issue between Callplus and their peering in Australia.
Thankfully it's not my connection being affected (different ISP), but I've seen it happening to about 4 different people, just on one server.

I certainly wouldn't consider 140ms to Aussie to be on the good end. O_O
