Hello gents,

We've noticed an issue that has occurred with connectivity inside our upstream in the USA. We believe it's occurred twice or so. Basically, traffic is getting to the US (and many destinations within the US) reasonably well, but in a few situations, traffic has been shuffled onto a higher-latency path inside the US.

This usually doesn't last long; we've only observed this event twice so far.

We're having a chat with our upstream to see why this is happening, and to come up with a plan to make this go away.

This is my trace route to a league of legends server.  Issue looks to have been resolved.  Can someone else confirm?

So I'm not sure why you suggested tracert on the above IP, when that IP isn't mentioned in the official server IP list :D

he was tracing a wow server which goes via cogent, rather than alter.net.

cogent over multiple different isp's have had issues in both san jose, and los angeles with connecting to at&t (connecting with at&t in los angeles both times i think)

i think people see high latency for one thing, then they have high latency to something else, so think it's related.  it may not have been related in this instance, but a separate similar issue.

debugging these issues can be kind of complicated, as the traffic coming back from the US may take a different route than the traffic going to the server, and yet traceroute will only show you the path taken to the server.

my ping slightly lower today 160-180. Still it needs to be ~130-140 like it was with orcon.

My ping is still fluctuating between 1000ms - 5000ms which makes it impossible to play, luckily I can tether my Vodafone mobile and get 180ms ping..

NZ pings and throughput is great though, which is what I use 99% of the time, so no major drama

Latency is flawless right now, Could it possibly be a congestion issue? Unless you guys have done something on your end?
