What really Orcon have de-prioritised IMCP.... wow that's going to cause issues with troubleshooting and potentially other issues.
I wonder if this is a DDOS protection.....


Only de-prioritesed when the ICMP is targeted at the routers control plane (like a traceroute for example).

This is comon-practise, as we want the routers to be handling bgp requests etc before replying to ICMP traffic.

Our BNG is bit harsh I agree. Its on the todo list to look at.

Good news, it seems to have come right now.

I got a response from Orcon saying they "did a refresh on the broadband service of your account". So that was a less than 24 hour response from my online query which is pretty good.

I'll keep an eye on this over the next week but whatever the problem is it seems to be isolated to me.

I'm happy with the quick response - thanks Orcon Smile

Just to bring things back to the original topic....

I requested a trace from EA but I doubt they will bother to even answer let alone trace it.

The drop outs have not occurred again, its getting slow but not dropping out completely so not able to get a trace on that, maybe that part is sorted.
