groynk: This is getting hard now...

I lose all my saved up minutes? I just hit 1400 saved minutes.

(Warning: rant)

Let me start at the beginning: My 6months are up on my grossly underused $89 plan.
So I logged in to my2degrees to change my plan on Saturday (2 Feb) to the old $29 plan, they prompted me to "update my details", good idea (since I'm moving house this week), so I updated my address, and it says "thanks we have updated your details". Sweet, all done.

Today (4 Feb) on my billing day my $89 plan rolled over... strange, maybe it'll change tonight overnight... I logged in and checked the change plan screen, still $89 ok select $29 plan, oh great a second confirm screen that I obviously got bypassed away from because of the edit personal details button!!! Great process flow 2degrees process designers! Damnit!

So I hit confirm: "your plan will be changed 4 march". Come on!
I think: 'damnit! ...oh well, who cares. No hang on, I do, it is $60, and I need the money. So I will ring up".
After some explaining and checking: "I'm sorry sir but I have 'cross-checked' and we cannot update your plan this month because you have already been billed..." (Less than hours ago. And actually I haven't received any bill)
So I'll have to bite it. $60 hurts, but isn't worth the stress, me thinks... big faceless company can have this one...

But no, now you tell me, I will lose my (1400) now 1800 saved up minutes in March too!? Seriously?
I saw absolutely nothing about the terms of the new plans on my change plan process online, neither heard about them from the helpful phone lady.
Yes, I now see them on the main 2degrees website, but only after reading some posts here, and if I wasn't a GZ reader I'd have no clue until I lost my preciouses minuteses next month!

Here is what might have happened..

When you did the change online the first time, it was scheduled to do the change today and give you the old (pay monthly) $29 plan but when you did it again then it gave you the new carryover plan and thats when you lost the minutes

Whats still confusing though is when you had already done the change of plan earlier then why it didnt take effect today when your billing month rolled over..

Maybe 2Degrees customer care can shed some light on that..

Possible, but fairly certain I didn't hit the nice big confirm button the first time. Now that it's scheduled in for next bill in March I can see it on my change plan screen, that wasn't the case this morning.

If I want any joy I think I will have to try and push through the first level of support at customer care... any tips?

I thought if you downgraded plans you always lost any carryover minutes accumulated anyway?

Really?

It wasn't made clear while downgrading

If true, It's an unlikely scenario in which someone would ever be able to use carry over minutes then... you would think that downgrading would be because you are over subscribed, and accumulating minutes. But you lose them as soon as you downgrade? So to ever use them you have to have an exceptionally talkative month.
Useful to some, maybe... but not many I would imagine

Thumbs down to 2degrees for the new plans. 350mb less on the $39 plan, AND they won't allow you to sign up on the old $39 plan, has to be the new one.

//Rant On//
Also, because I have an account in my name that my daughter uses I can't have another pay monthly plan (for me). My daughter would have to go back to prepay for a month, couldn't sign back up on the old $39 plan and would have to have the 750mb plan (she uses up to a GB per mth).

Maybe it's a sign of growth, but 2degrees, you're starting to suck!

All in all, not bad.

For the $39 plan, they increased carry over minutes and decreased data, which is still much better value than other plans out in the market

For $49 and over plans, they have increased data and made it permanent, which is good.

I'm on a plan that costs more, but doesn't have the same value (also my usage has changed and now I use data more than anything else), so these plans are quite tempting, especially if you can add the broadband zone 12GB for 6 months data pack.

I guess I'm not sure where the negativity is coming from - it's not like grandfathering plans is anything new.

If you are on a plan right now, you might be able to change to $39 pay monthly plan coz according to their statement on the retired plans page, we wont be able to change to the pay monthly (old) plans after 8th March...

What do the customer care people say when you call them for the plan change...!

So, let me see if I understand this correctly.

I am currently on the $29 plan which gives me 50mb of national data per month. 2degrees will keep me on this existing plan unless I elect to switch to the 'new' $29 which will give me 500mb of national data on the provision that I'm okay with the increased international charges, and with losing any existing accumulated minutes.

Is that about right?

I'm pretty sure if you read the terms and conditions regarding the old plans it is very clearly spelt out in there as to what you loose when you down grade. Smile

The number of minutes hasn't really changed, the "bonus" minutes were for life. Also, the "bonus" data was for 2 years, so was effectively permanent .

On the $39 plan, data has decreased by 32% (1100 to 750mb), a std NZ call has increased by 11% (44c to 49c). International calls to main destinations (OZ, UK etc) has increased by 11% (44c to 49c) and international txt'ing to the top destinations (OZ, UK etc.) has increased by 122% (9c to 20c).

Let's not pretend this is anything more than repackaging and a price increase, value decrease.

On your old $29 plan you get 550mb data per month for at least 2yrs and yes, you'll be able to stay on it.

Not really coz if you signed up on the $29 plan before it had the 500MB bonus data then you dont get it automatically like when the number of texts was changed to all you need, all the plans got it automatically.
I know this coz my wife's on this plan and still has the 50MB data

Does any one know on the new carryover minutes plans whether your unused carryover minutes transfer if you transfer between the plans (e.g. from $39 to $29). The T&C mention ETCs if you are on a 12 or 24 month plan, but don't seem to mention whether you can keep your unusued minutes. What I was wondering is if you can go onto say the $39 plan for a while, and if you find that you are building up minutes, switch to the $29 for a while until your minutes deplete again.

We could keep our acumulated minutes in the old Pay Monthly plan when we transferred within the plans coz I was able to downgrade from $89 to $39 and still keep my accumulated minutes so I suppose the same should be applicable to the carryover (new) plansCool

It'd be a different story if you were on lets say $39 pay monthly (old / retired) plans and then switched to $29 carryover (new) plan, I think someone mentioned accumulated that minutes wouldnt come across in that scenario.. Cry
