I just don't understand why Orcon continue to use the cheapest, shoddiest, worst possibly international providers who fail time and time again. Getting 2000+ ms in wow, just... facepalm

orcon on twitter:Orcon ‏@Orcon13h@TelcoKT Ah, sorry to hear that. We have reduced P2P bandwidth while waiting for more capacity (coming this week I believe) ^QR

It really is stupid.  Ever since I got UFB with Orcon it's been issue after issue with international... Having better service from Slingshot, hell even Big Time with Telecom was more usable than this...

Can't stream twitch in anything over 360p, Youtube is hit and miss, TVNZ on demand buffers every 2 seconds (not sure who to blame for that).  Even noticed iTunes movie trailers (during the day or night) take well over twice the length of the video to watch.  Gaming can be very erratic...

Bhavicp: Should just have this thread closed and add to the original post to say "DEAL WITH IT". Really looks like Orcon won't or can't fix this issue no matter how much we complain.

Edit: At the moment I'm thinking of just paying the disconnection fee and switching over to Slingshot. Same price, better speeds, better ping.

Yeah but the fact of the matter is that we are paying for a service that we aren't getting. So they should waive the disconnection fee.

haha anyone else find this funny.

The update was on 9:33pm saying that they is a problem and "Should have been resolved by 10:30pm"

So engineers have travelled to the future and resolved it and came back in time to give a update! :D

Guess we shouldn't complain since they are finally using there Network status page lol

That is pretty funny, since my problem was the worst around 10:45, and didn't clear up until about 11:45.

Hmmmm we shall see if it's fixed or not I wouldn't believe a word on that network status page Monday through Tuesday night said no problems on the network and yet P2P was doing dialup speeds

I think they'll keep shaping P2P until that extra "international bandwidth" arrives.

Wish I hadn't signed a contract. Another 18 months of this is going to ruin Internet for me.
Big f u to orcon.
Obviously cost savings are the order of the day for them.

Call them and log faults so you have some records of trying to resolve it when you cancel the contract for non performance.

Its complacent whiners who wont actually move isp and keep paying that let them get away with crap like this.

God this is REALLY pissing me off now. Normally at around 4pm the ping's are fine and games are playable, however i just finished the worse match i've ever had. My pings kept jumping up to 400, and would yo-yo constantly from 160ish (normal with Orcon - With Slingshot used to be 130-140) to 300+.

I'm going to try some non-competitive matches at around 7(which I'm pretty sure will be just as bad, if not worse), and if it continues I'll log a ticket. Going to look to move from this nonsense.

What's even more annoying is I switched to their 60GB plan for 1 month (since 21st Feb) hoping that pings would stay the same even during peak times, however they were EXACTLY the same as unlimited, and I racked up a $30+ overage ($2 per GB) as well, because they wouldn't let me switch back to unlimited just 3 days into the metered plan and I had accidently used 45/60GB on the first night it switched over (got my dates wrong)

More bandwidth with any provider takes time to be applied.
Theres severl things to take into account:

1.) Contracts (not your contracts Orcons Contracts)
2.) How much is going is Xtb of bandwidth going to be enough (LOL TB's hehehehe more like mb's)
3.) Will increaseing the bandwidth cause other issues on the network....

Its not a switch that some one has their finger on.... when bandwidths low shape p2p makes sence really you only going to annoy a small % of your customer base rather then 99% of your customer base if browsing was affected and youtube etc....

Athlonite:

You will find dialup is a million times worse.... The other day my I connected my grandfathers computer to dailup.... I forgot how slow it is.... well really I forgot now rich in media the internet has come since those days.

If its only p2p why are gamers having issues?

Since my flatmate is using my snap connection to game I should try some ftp on his orcon connection and see how badly shaped it is tomorrow
