I've noticed speedtest results stay the same regardless of night/day now... but browsing at night still slows right down, torrents go from 3+MB/s to 10Kb/s... And still can't stream twitch in 720p or above, occasionally it will in 720p during the day, but not often.

Asmodeus: Speeds still suck, esp torrents. When will this be fixed?

Can I get out of my contract because of this? Who reckons I can argue to get my early termination fee reduced or waived so I can go somewhere with decent speeds?

Anyone having issues today (and last night)? We've had to restart our genius 4 or 5 times today. Connection keeps dropping out.

Haven't had that but my speeds still suck. I moaned on Orcon's FB page about it yesterday and got this reply today

"Hi - we've made some upgrades to our international bandwidth and we've seen good improvements there. If you are still having issues your best option is to give the team a call on 0800 13 14 15 so we can treat your case as an individual fault and investigate the possible causes. Cheers."

I'm not happy with that response. Are others still getting crap speeds?

Agree, and I'm bloody sure they are still throttling torrents

I think my speeds are much better. I havent been playing any games as of late, but browsing during the normal peak times (6-11pm) seem to be fine. I'll give some gaming a go tonight and report back. Gaming during the day is better then before with 150~ ping times compared to 170+ before.

Ha? Your not happy that they made changes and Orcon believe they have fixed the issue? Seems a bit snobby to me.... They suggesting you call up as the issue appears to be an issue not related to the network.
If many people are getting the issue then flood their help desk with calls.... make them believe something "Network" related is causing issues.

I believe p2p shaping during peak times will always be there..... With every large provider that provides a unlimited plan there needs to be shaping for p2p..... NZ are hard out leechers bigger then anyone else in the world.....  (per capita based) if you dont shape it p2p takes control of the network.
Its just does Orcon NOC have the skill set to configure the shaper in the correct manner to apply good p2p shaping rules.

Why should I be happy I'm getting 5-10kb/s on p2p and have to pause SD youtube videos several times so they can buffer. None of that would happen at any time of the day with a decent service. I don't give a crap if you think I'm a snob, most people would be pretty upset about service like that. I just don't believe it's at my end, it's been exactly the same since they started having these "issues". I don't pay $100/month for dialup...

I agree you "Should" not be happy with getting slow p2p speeds, The intraindustry in NZ can not support unlimited linerate p2p speeds if you are a large provider and you want your customers to get p2p full speed any time or close to full speed.... don't offer unlimited plans.

So saying that p2p will be throttled unless your provider is willing to part with less profit for faster speeds for your customers.

Sadly NZ is small and there is only a few people that don't like p2p limited during peak times... If you don't like it you should change providers.

weird, i'm getting 400-1100 kB/s (mostly ~600) from a random popular torrent (sort by seeds or leechers, 10's of 000's of either will give good results)
