Sorry Orcon, didn't realise I ordered 512K fibre.
Is it even worth ringing up? all I hear about is ridiculously long waiting times only to get someone overseas that reads a script and insists it's out equipment.

For reference, on unlimited ADSL.

Geezz I'm glad I'm not the only one.

The international speeds after 8:30ish pm sucks. The streaming on videos just stop and can't do much else.
During the day and morning seems fine.

Orcon has had this issue in the past as well I agree but they eventually fix it....wish they would hurry up. Been like that for 1- to 2 weeks now....

Agreed, nearly two weeks of this rubbish now.
I feel like orcon has gone downhill since their genuis promotion got popular.

I rang up finally, they reset my fibre connection, it seems back to normal, so far.
Hope it stays like this, it was pretty much unusable

I spoke to Orcon support they changed my Genius firmware version. Apparently I was running on v12 when v15 is out now. They pushed it out took around 20 minutes. They also changed the DNS to Google's. And change the MTU to 1475 from 1492.

I have no idea what the above settings are meant to change however the issue still remains. I suppose it will help later one when they fix the bandwidth issue..

Hi,

Were you talking to Tier 1 or Tier 2 support?

These changes don't make much sense to me as a T2 Engineer as it will circumvent local CDN's where available...

Could you PM me a Username or Ticket# and I'll have a look for you as there shouldn't be any issues with International Traffic, on our network at least. (As for further upstream out of our network, we would need to check the path your traffic is taking).

Cheers,

Lance.

Lovely post 8pm speeds you can expect with Orcon UFB
Can't stream any sort of video online. But hey, as long as local speeds are 10Mbps+, who cares right ?

It's not JUST UFB, I had same issues from 7 to around 10 minutes ago.. It's at least useable now..websites were taking at least 10 seconds+ to load. (I'm on the 60GB Plan..Switched from unmetered just 3-4 days ago to see if it would be any better, but apparently not.

I'm embarrassed to be an Orcon customer.
Are we expected to only read text whilst online ?

Please start buying more overseas bandwidth, throttling the abusers, whatever else to get my UFB into respective speeds.

Orcon have plenty of international bandwidth, I easily get 200-300mbps to US West coast. the issue seems more to be around the setup of their traffic management on UFB/DSL connections. One of the offics got a 100/50mbps Orcon connection (GPON) installed today so I'll login, configure it and see how it goes... That's on the unlimtied national, 30GB international for $239/month though
