Hello,

Just connected up with Naked Unlimited a few days ago in Sandringham, Auckland.

I have struggled to maintain a constant connection speed for more than about 3 hours.

I am currently connected using a Billion 7404VNPX ADSL2+ router. Have also tried connecting with a DLink DSL-G604T router, but was unable to get any line sync at all.

For starters, what downstream speed should I be able to get? Is >10 Mbps unreasonable? Or is the 1.5Mbps basically the limit.

Is there anything in the numbers below that should concern me? Or should I start chasing up Slingshot to get Chorus to investigate.

One last question...Does Slingshot include the wiring fee in the price we pay? ie if there is a fault in the wiring inside the house, will I be liable for any cost? The reason I ask this is I am in an apartment block and therefore cannot check the wiring from the demarkation point myself for obvious damage/flaws.

Have you got a master filter installed? These are not the line filters

Have you got the modem plugged into an ext lead by any chance?

Have you done an isolation test?

No master filter installed and no line filter (using naked broadband).

Modem is the only thing plugged into the line. I am debating purchasing a cheap phone to see if there is any audible noise/interference on the line......a phone, a phone, my kingdom for an old fashioned corded phone....lol

Your line attenuation is high and you're not going to get any more than 1Mbps down and 500kbps up because that's all your sync speed is.

There is a clear fault on your line and you can lodge a job with your ISP. What you do need to establish however is whether the fault in in your premises or external on the Chorus network.

You would need to check your Slingshot bill to see whether you're paying wiring maintenance. If you're not then technically speaking you're reponsible for internal wiring since it's your property, and isn't part of the Chorus network.

Thank you to those that helped.

I rang Slingshot this morning and had a very helpful agent assist me. He quickly identified I had checked all the right things (try second router, isolation test, no filter etc) and then submitted a fault to Chorus. By 1pm a tech had been, found the broken wire at the demarkation box.....

Now getting 12Mbps...almost 10x my previous best....Now to tweak the snr and coding gains and see what I can get out of this puppy.
