gundar: Now that it is October, can we get a firm 'yes' or 'no' - does Slingshot provide VDSL?

Slingshot: Had a wee chat with the lads downstairs. We're aiming for an early November release for the VDSL plans. Still on track for $15 more than current plan prices and I hear we'll even be getting some naked plans for it too. Still not 100% confirmed but if I'm allowed to post it on here then it's a pretty good sign ;)

Cheers,
Chris

A firm no for October.

Quote is on the previous page of this thread.

Yes we will be offering VDSL. As far as I know, the modems will be arriving sometime this month and the aim is for the plans to be rolled out sometime early November. Until someone tells me otherwise then that's all I know. As soon as I hear anything more I'll let you know.

Cheers,
Chris

Wonder if Slingshot will be keeping an eye on Orcon, considering the pricing of unlimited plans, price and amount of bandwidth Orcon are acquiring for the service.  ;)

Slingshot Naked unlimited is $90.  Orcon cheapest unlimited is $99.

I don't think they will be too worried.

once Slingshot launch their fibre plans properly I guess we'll see what they do.

unlimited on fibre is potentially very dangerous for an ISP without some pretty serious traffic shaping.

Only 8th October dammit....

Hate waiting so long, the plans better be good.

No new plans for Telecom, Voda is pushing their cable prices up (its as if they want us NOT to sign up to the cable service), Orcon's doing a big marketing campaign.
Time to make your move SS.

Mark, I hope you read GZ and not just do media conferences.

Really?!?!
it is now the 17th October and nothing yet.

This thread has now been running since May.
The straw on this camel's back is getting to breaking point.

All I want to know is there going to be an Unlimited account on VDSL with Slingshot? Yes,  NO

I have a few providers calling every day telling me come on over. But Unlimited is not available..
If Slingshot don't offer Unlimited then no need for me to wait..

have to say the customer service guys don't really pushing to keep my business anyway. Gave me a whooping 2 months free for my Static IP.. :) that is like $20

Wonder how hard it is to move.. :)

Sorry my rant for the day..

but seriously how long before VDSL comes available on slingshot?!?

Sales guys say they know nothing. customer service say before the end of the year..

OMG.. :(

I've been told we're still on track for early next month. Haven't got confirmation about unlimited yet but I harass our marketing guys every chance I get so if they let me know anything I can say without losing my job you guys will be the first to hear ;).

Cheers,
Chris

Thanks Chris.

Just to remind SS marketing of what was promised:
-While not exactly specific, Mark does talk it up a bit...

http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/BU1308/S00047/slingshot-beats-giants-in-data-battle.htm

Continually striving to better the telecommunications service in New Zealand, Slingshot will be announcing equally impressive big data VDSL plans in the coming weeks. These are expected to compete heavily on price and value with other VDSL providers and offer New Zealand consumers more choice.

Well the weeks thing has stretched out a bit, but as said in the above post. If you are going to make a compelling offer, now is the time.

Orcon, Telecom & Snap are in the spotlight right now.          <---------- Probably want to move into the spotlight or even better - take it away form these guys.

Vodafone is alienating everyone with their higher priced cable plans.       <------- Don't be like these guys. They are going to have a quiet cable network before long.

Nice. I'll use that to see if we can get any movement on a public announcement.

Righto, I'll be getting VDSL this month, I'm not too fussed if I have to pay a break fee with Slingshot.

I am also at that point.

I found wirelessnation.co.nz offers VDSL with Unlimited for 129+GST
It is only showing under Business but I called them and they do it for residential too.
Sorry Slingshot enough is enough
