hamish225:
not sure why you would want a pots line though, voip is so much better! also cheaper if you use caller id  etc

There are many reasons why one would requires a POTS line. A VoIP phone is dependant on your internet connection and power, a lot of people require a 100% stable home phone, in these cases VoIP is out of the question.

As I'm a slingshot customer and no vdsl2 service currently been offered yet and the fact Now Snap have just lowered prices for their Plans the temptation was too hard to resist and wanted a good router as Fritzboxes are great as not keen on Thompson routers. Have been with Slingshot for many years now and didn't really wish to make this change as is difficult changing email addresses unless slingshot can offer something real soon maybe then I can change my mind

This sounds similar to me. I've been with slingshot since 07 and have generally been pretty darn happy with the service. But, it's getting to the point where slingshot are falling behind on the game. They were one of the first to announce UFB plans but over a year on and there is still no sign of it. I'm now sitting here watching Telecom roll out VDSL and Snap creating some extremely tempting new VDSL plans. Not to mention Snap offers UFB in my area so that is also a possibility.

I also don't want to change because like I said the service has been great (and getting a new email would also be a pain) but I'm seriously considering moving on.

I'm struggling to see what Slingshot offers the market now.  Used to be price, but Snap is cheaper and Telecom offering about the same but they're both with VDSL not ADSL.

The only thing Slingshot can offer now is true AYCE VDSL.

Price, when/if Slingshot come out with VDSL plans, would have to be very similar to Snap/Telecom, mind you Snap has free data from 1-7am.

Come on Slingshot, give us an indication when plans might be announced, at least something...

Signed,

Happy AYCE ADSL Slingshot customer...hanging on by the "SNAP" of my teeth (pun intended...)

Slingshot might want to seriously considering announcing some plans and pricing and if they can provide a realistic availability date it may just slow the moves down.

I am seriously considering Snap VDSL also as you can get

VDSL naked for $85 with 100GB Data
+ extra 100GB data with a 2 year contract
+ Free Fritz box
+ I can add another 100GB for $15
+ Free downloads each morning 1am till 7am

Hello Slingshot anyone there? :-)

Hello there,

I can assure you that the Slingshot marketing department are cooking up some tasty plans for VDSL. It is also being trialed at this time and will be made available very soon.

I know it is enticing to see our competition announce plans and offers - but we are going to be doing that soon too.

In the meantime, thanks a lot for the patience and support.

Slingshot Customer Service.

Exciting :)

This will be great and a viable alternative until Enable run UFB through Riccarton.

I heard a similar thing in April when asking about UFB pricing and plans as there was no unlimited offering. Still no movement on those. Patience and support pretty much exhausted. Time to talk to the wife about VDSL.

I'm going to be cheeky and tag on to classiczone's post. Always looking to save $$ on the monthly bills, checking the Consumer Telme website for plan comparisons etc we too have been with Slingshot for sometime now. To be honest if i see a cheaper plan come up we'll more than likely move.
Any chance of looking into my account also? Can you help in anyway in keeping me with Slingshot? I've PM'd Slingshot Customer Service just in case.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Well Slingshot have lost a valuable customer I wanted to be offered vdsl2 and after speaking to slingshot they couldn't confirm a set launch date and didn't even offer anything like mentioned in this post so have now signed up to Snap as their plans are vary attractive and were too tempting to resit . Bye Bye Slingshot your services were great But very much wanted a faster service

Don't expect much, I got offered a free month with a 12 month contract, might be worth it for some, but honestly speaking is only worth ~5-6 months for me, when comparing prices of slingshot vs orcon unlimited. I'll be sticking with slingshot for another month or two to see if they really will release VDSL2 plans anytime soon, if nothing happens I'll be changing ISP.

Would it be true in thinking that with all these VDSL plans coming out that the ADSL pricing would come down also?
