I dont have clue what you are talking about LOL All i know is when I visit the uk last year it took me 5 mins to download a tv show compared to 30 and that was in just ordinary domestic households. There seemed to be wifi everywhere not that it mattered as unlimited phone data was less than 20 pound a month. I bet that 83% you are talking about are all in Auckland or Wellington.

This is getting slightly OT but no, I'm not talking about just Auckland and Wellington.

With the cabinetisation project over 80% of NZ premises have ADSL2+ sync speeds of over 10Mbps and with VDSL available delivering up to 70Mbps in just over half of these. Very few countries have figures anywhere near this.

There are various reasons why a show could take 5 mins vs 30 mins to download, but in terms of last mile connectivity NZ already has a world class network.

Snaps no good dont have unlimited and they seem to only go upto 100 a months I usually get through 250 to 350 a month thanks though

Inspire net (Inspire.net.nz) have UFB available in Wanganui. No unlimited though. They're local-ish (based in Palmy).

A untagged UNNI port can be provisioned but it means you'll have no CIR / high priority traffic since you can't have an 802.1p tag for the CIR traffic without an 802.1q VLAN tag on the traffic.

And they are streaks ahead of Orcon in my opinion.
No traffic shaping and unlimited 1am to 7am

$99 with Orcon gets you Unlimited 24/7 not just overnight, Ill check with our Architect but Im pretty sure we removed even P2P traffic shaping some time ago when we added bandwidth and upgraded/replaced some of our core elements.

Absolutely no idea.

You'd need to establish if it supports VLAN tagging on the WAN port. If it does it'll work. If it doesn't it won't without requesting an untagged UNNI port if your ISP support this.

If you don't understand any of this isn't the exact reason an ISP supplies a device that'll work out of the box.

Neatgear's firmware does NOT support VLAN tagging. So, the options are either find a third-party firmware for the device that does, or to requested an untagged port as above.

I'd highly recommend regional operator Inspire (seeing as Orcon and Inspire are the only choices). I've only heard good things.

Remember on an "unlimited" plan you will likely encounter congestion/contention in peak times, compared to a data cap plan.

Also http://ubergroup.co.nz/ serve the Northland area.

Not with Orcon, except for P2P shaping all other traffic has the same priority whichever plan the customer is on.
