Working OK in Whitby UFB, but unwilling to try a router reboot. Luckily my router and ONT are on a UPS so even if the power goes out I should be OK **crosses fingers**

Hi Guys, I'll look into this, as far as I know at the moment there were 245 customers affected when this occurred yesterday before I went offline. Back with an update soon...

We've just updated the website. We have replaced the hardware normally associated with this fault but in this case it hasn't resolved it. We are both continuing to troubleshoot with the hardware vendor and look for alternative means to provide auth.

Unfortunately Genius customers will be without both internet and phone.

We apologise for the length of the outage, we will do our best to restore service just as quickly as we can.

Thanks for the update. Not ideal but at least it's an update of what's happening.

If I can make a suggestion? Please update the site whenever you guys can. Lots of people online looking for answers and they go to the site for information.

Doesn't sound good though!

Article appeared on Stuff: http://www.stuff.co.nz/technology/digital-living/9332430/Orcon-internet-outage-in-Wellington

Orcon customers around Wellington and Upper Hutt have been without internet for more than 24 hours as the network continues to battle an outage.

The telecommunications company has struck an unscheduled outage and its website said customers in Wellington may be having issues connecting to the internet due to a loss of authentification.

Engineers were investigating the problem which was affecting customers in Upper Hutt and Wellington, according to Orcon's technical issues helpline.

Twitter user Jithen Singh was still waiting for the issue to be resolved at noon today.

"Heh, given up waiting, no internet, no phone, @orcon still having issues in Wellington. Over 24 hours now! Lots of pissed off customers!"

Actually the team believe this is resolved as of approx 10pm, we have some users back online already and are working to restore the remainder over the next 30-60mins. Some users may have to reboot their modems.

No problem, we will be investigating the dead air period as that isn't ideal by any means.

It might be my horrific router. It's getting replaced tomorrow so if it's still borked I'll escalate :)

We are seeing 95%+ of the affected users back online so if you are still offline and a reboot doesn't fix it you may have a separate line/modem issue.

Happy to take a PM if the new router doesn't sort it if you are still offline.
