It will be BOF (Broadband Over Fibre).
Sorry - I think we still require a contract on that.
Are you not going to be there 12months?

quentinreade: Hi all,
Chorus is proposing a range of new plans that kick in Jan 1.
Assuming they all go ahead, we'll be offering them in Jan. We are still waiting on the other LFCs to confirm if they will match.
The proposed plans from Chorus include a 50/20 base plan, and then 100 and 200Mbps download options, with a variety of upload options.
Not sure when we'll announce specifics - but we def will have a range of new plans in 2014. They are all better value too, so I think people will be happy.
Cheers.

Sorry to derail the thread,
I am trying to decide if I want to get fibre on, and this is making me interested. What is the upfront cost to get it switched on? I am on a very tight budget and I want to know upfront how much I need to come up with to switch. I am not on any sort of contract at the moment, on Slingshot unlimited. Are there any offers going at the moment with the installation costs?

Do you know if those plans will be on a par pricewise with the current ones? (i.e. 30/10 -> 50/20) and will they also be unlimited data? I don't use that much data, but I really prefer not to have any price shock.

Hi, to have that discussion you really should talk to our sales teams, they have all current offers and a current view of your property and services available to it.

Sounddude: I am network focused here at orcon, so can't really comment on the Future changes to plans etc.

Network wise we are doing some very cool things, and hopefully i can comment about those soon.

network wise, we have our own international network, with sites in Sydney and San Jose and expanding fast to other regions.

does this mean you're going to have a Europe and/or Asia presence soon?  (like internode)

Oh, I am satisfied alright!

Did have some teething problems but Orcon went above and beyond to get it sorted!

I am still waiting on them to fix my upload. I have been on the 100/50 plan for 3 weeks or so. I have not had a speed test result from any of my 1Gbps hard wired PC's with an upload result greater than 10Mb/s to Orcons closest server. Orcon have some techs working on it but I have not heard a cause or a likely eta for a fix as yet. I am assuming this is only an issue in Hamilton.

Can I please have your account number (PM me) so that I can look into your circuit as this is definitely not what we like to see for our fiber products.

Hi Rageykiwi,
Our Assurance team last update was that the testing had been stable at 92/49. If that is no longer the case then best if you simply reply to the Assurance team with the new symptoms you have.

I am going to reply to the Assurance team, the issue is resolved,My self built gygabyte desktops have duel realtek gigabit lan ports and i suspect that its a part of the problem
So its resolved. There are no new drivers for the hardware so im deciding on either new boards or just just get new pc-e duel lans. But tests show uploading is working as it should now.using another pc

My orcon fibre isn't exactly perfect either (100/50, unlimited, Whanganui, UFF):

Newly installed on Monday.  Test done with my work laptop plugged directly into the Genius modem.
