Finch: Love how this thread has turned into something about Paul Henry haha.

Last week Dotcoms Bodyguard/right hand man (His name escapes me right now) was going to appear on TPHS but Dotcom got the lawyers involved to stop him from talking.

I quite liked KDC just from what I saw on TV/his personality however now it sounds like he is hiding something (Although he probably was all along!!)

I'm not sure if this was about the same guy... But @kimdotcom tweeted

"Former gate security guard demands $245,000 settlement via lawyer & leaks family secrets to extort this amount. Equivalent to 10K+ monthly."

And:

"All former gate security guards signed confidentiality agreements. But they leak private info to bloggers in an effort to extort more money."

And:

"Who needs an education or a degree? Just sit in a guard house all day looking at camera screens & demand $245K while leaking family secrets."

And:

"I've always treated my staff well. We've paid staff who remained loyal to us two years after the raid a $25K bonus. Don't believe the lies."

If this is true (and I believe it is) then he's pretty well within his right to put a gagging order on him.

mattwnz: To me the campaign was somewhat contradictory. They implied  having caps on plans are third world, yet they do sell plans with caps on them. Sure they also had a plan without caps, but the rest didn't. If they are saying their service is 1st world, then all the plans shouldn't have caps, otherwise the are saying that some of their plans are third world. At least that is my logic to it. Glad it is gone.

I think the logic was "not having an uncapped choice, is 3rd world"

OK, although there was already uncapped choices with other ISPs, as some other ISps do already offer uncapped plans. So if those didn't exist, I could see the logic in the advertising.

Amosnz: I quite like Paul Henry and the new show too, but I'm glad Janika is there too.

He is probably the best interviewer on TV. He does sometimes get a bit ranty though.

Paul Henry is a great, he calls a spade a spade, and I think thats what most people like about him.

Oh, I initially read what you're written was that Henry was a git, and I was agreeing with you... read it again, and realised my mistake!

I don't think there are many "interviewers" I dislike more than Paul Henry - possibly Mike Hoskings, but it's a close call between the two.

I think Henry's very polarising - people tend to like him or hate him, with few sitting on the fence. What you and he may call a spade, others may call a shovel perhaps...

KiwiNZ: I still believe that Kim Dotcom is taking the mickey out of NZ

Something I've said since day one!

I wouldn't trust him as far as I could bowl him.

Bowling him would be relatively easy if you knock him over first. I've never trusted him as high as I can lift him (which is impossible even with a Crown forklift). ;-)

Wait ... New Zealand's NOT a 3rd world country?!?!?
Under-funded health system, under-performing education system, hopeless public transport, politicians taking backhanders and lying, incredibly bad drivers, ... . It certainly seems like a 3rd world country. ;-)

I think you haven't met a 3rd world country with pretty bad public transport. And public hospitals where patients die scattered on the floors. Because I have, and New Zealand is not even close to be in the vicinity to what you describe.

I don't think a smiley will get you off the hook on this one. Here, some images for you to see what 3rd world health and transport look like:

Yep - our unlimited plan pre-dated this campaign by over a year...not all campaigns launch new-to-market product, many relaunch with new features as ours did.

Edit: "new" features not "existing" doh!

Don't watch TV anymore so the TV ads had slipped my mind. But I got really sick of seeing his big head all over Orcons twitter and Website.

He's not really a good looking guy, plus every time I see him now, I think of those poor trades-people he owes, and I empathise for them, & feel mad at him.

It's actually about the ability for the other party to have their said, it's also funny having Kim Dotcom talking about confidentiality and then disclosing normally confidential salary information.

It boils down to the two way street, it's not unreasonable for the accused to be given a chance to reply and counter accusations made about them, it's of course up to the media/other mediums if they want to carry that reply.

This was (if I recall correctly) brought up in the Herald in the last couple of days, for all the statements he's made about 'Internet Freedoms' the move to obtain a gag order just feels like a complete U-turn, perhaps even a 'do as I say, not as I do' thing.

As for the Orcon/Dotcom ads (and to be honest, the Orcon/Billshock ad as well),  the only purpose they served me was a reminder that I hadn't hit fast forward yet!

Where did he say how much the guard was paid? Im assuming the 10K+ monthly means an equivalent wage based on how long he worked for Dotcom if he were to get the ransom. (Ransom demand / months working). Sure you could calculate how long approx the guard worked for Dotcom. But can't see how you could calculate the normal wage.

What were the new features you launched unlimited with for the Kim Dot com ad?

As far as I could see the only new feature was removing the free national calling that was previously bundled in to that same plan.
