NonprayingMantis: Before, when it was just a few of us using unblock-us etc we were well below the radar.

So the real question is what is the "unblock-us etc" customer base, that may give you and indication of the true size of the global industry issue.

No idea.  they don't publish that, for obvious reasons.

the only vague indicator would be stuff like facebook likes - only 12k for a worldwide service.  Which suggests it's pretty small globally. (considering Orcon, an NZ-only ISP has  45k 'likes')

The key difference though is some online semi-anonymous service doing it, which is hard to guage the impact  vs a major ISP doing it. Unblock-us etc have received virtually no publicity here in NZ - everything has been under the radar, word of mouth.

But as soon as Slingshot did it - all over the press, TV adverts banned generating massive PR.  that's when attention starts happening in hollywood.

Looks good, except hulu doesn't seem to work on my roku. I don't get the "wrong country" error but nothing loads. When I switch back to unotelly, all is fine again. NEtflix works it seems.

Anyone able to try this? Haven't had a chance yet to test hulu on pc, doing a bit of real work now.

Get a hotel address in Oregon and use that - no state tax added.

There is an issue with customers who have Windows 8.1 and IPV6.

We are working on a resolution. Hopefully tomorrow.

Just read this - great news.

Imagine my excitement in my little town when I saw the pavements being dug up down the end of the street to do the fibre rollout.
Imagine my disappointment when they stopped at my neighbours. MY NEIGHBOURS!

"Oh sorry - your end of the street isn't being done til mid 2015..."

A little piece of me died that day.

I have been using Unotelly for ages with no problems, so this morning decided to try or con's Global servers.... no probe on main computer (iMac) BUT can connect to iPlayer on iPad, but just buffers for ages and then says 'Insufficient Bandwidth'. I have UFB and if i switch back to UnoDNS settings all working well....any suggestions please? Orcon's Tech Help told me it won't work with iPad!! I pointed out that on Orcon's site there are instructions for how to use with iPad and iPhone...oh, and he had NEVER heard of Apple TV! HELP!!!!!!yell

I guess you get what you pay for.

I'd rather have a service that works, for the sky high price of $5/month,  than a 'free' service that doesn't work.  (and of course it's never really free, it just means the cost is built into your monthly broadband plan instead of on-top, or they have reduced costs somewhere else)

Orcon just launched this service and Kudos to them for wanting to shove a big one up sky's bum hole along with slingshot. Surely there will be some teething problems. I think all of us making use of overseas services would like to see sky's butt kicked. Try and be positive for the brand new service and there might be some help to get it running smoothly.

And just a bit of advice, don't expect to get high level assistance from a first level help desk person, you are setting yourself up for disappointment with that. He might sit in India with a book highlighting what questions to ask for all that you know.

Another tip... UFB doesn't automatically make your international bandwidth go faster, so having UFB here might not mean much.
