Tzoi: I've been having the same connection problems with League of Legends as well. Seems to happen around 5pm-12am then fixes itself.

edit: I've also noticed that twitch.tv streams during this period are very laggy, even at 480p but outside this period I can watch streams at 1080p just fine

Having exactly the same issues between similar times I notice it about 6pm and it's usually ok around midnight, I'd say "Peak" times. Dota is the same, packet loss and higher latency that usual. (120ms to Aus servers instead of like 70-80) I'm on 30/10 Fibre in Chch.

Speedtest.net shows I'm getting 30/10 speeds to NZ/Aus/US Servers (or close to) but it definitely does not feel like it's being quick at all when browsing and Twitch doesn't load on anything over low.

Just tried out a series of different games, Dota, League of Legends (both NA and OCEA), Diablo 3, Hearthstone, CS:GO and PoE and am having the same issues with all of them. Packet loss leading to rubber banding, occuring between 10 and 30 seconds. Games freeze for approx 1-5 seconds, then "rubber band" to catch up.

My problems are with ADSL. I've just been doing other (non-internet-intensive) stuff at these times but it's rather annoying because this is generally the time when my friends are playing and I can't play with them because I'll spoil their games. Tracerts haven't shown anything weird for me, though I don't really know how to interpret them properly.

103.240.226.249 is an OCE LoL server ip, or at least it's what their employees tell people having connection issues to run a tracert to.

I've had issues for the past couple months with twitch.tv streams after about 7PM, got told a couple days ago by the "help desk" that 'Twitch' performs maintenance at that time and that's why it has issues...

Hmm, BS!  Streams perfectly fine on high over my poor 3G connection tethered to my laptop, also streams in source quality with no issue during the day.

I pretty much gave up gaming at night on my X1, random packet loss and pings jumping all over on my fibre connection doesn't make for a fun gaming sesh.

I also had Orcon turn off Global mode on my connection, made web browsing faster and stopped all the DNS errors in chrome for the most part, made no difference to gaming or twitch...

I can take comfort in the fact that its not just me. Does anyone know if this issue is just in Orcon or other ISPs having similar issues? I would really like to get my gaming back, and 3 months is enough time I think.

Been having issues for a few months now with gaming to overseas servers on ADSL2.
Ping times are fine but there is packet loss.
Seems like the only thing that is going to resolve it is moving to another ISP unfortunately.

Thanks for the links, I would very much like a resolution for this issue, as its been about 3 months now and I would like to be able to play games properly again.

Can you guys try something for me please?  This seems to have worked for me and I have had no issues since.

1. Go to 192.168.20.1
2. Log in to your modem using Admin as username and password.
3. Go to Advanced Setup
4. Go to DNS Proxy
5. Disable DNS Proxy
6. Apply/Save
7. Reboot Modem
8. Reboot Computer.

Test services that were previously rubber banding.

Ah the iiNet Bob,

Just Open your browser and type 10.1.1.1 into the address bar.

Log into the modem (the default password is admin)

From the menu, choose Advanced Settings and then DNS/UpnP/DDNS

Make sure that both “Let my ISP manage the DNS server" checkboxes are unselected and try using "Spark's" servers.  122.56.237.1     as primary and 210.55.111.1 as secondary.

Dont forget to reboot the modem and the computer after this or you can do a DNS flush if you are up to it
