hio77: looks like it was only on your ip range though, so that could crop up if you land outside of your normal range.

I would have assumed it was for all of AS23655. I've got a static IP address in 203.86.0.0 (and no way to verify the routing from elsewhere in Snap).

123.255.40.0/23 is another one of snaps static ranges, comes under AS23655, Thats the range i sit on.

Once again, only posting out of interest in the routing not the game, so i don't care so much as its something that you may.

Spark's routing is very similar to Snap at the moment, routing through Sydney to Tokyo. I play World of Tanks in Singapore as well and achieve 140ms using WTFAST program using chained servers. Using AUS2 and SG8 servers.

This is what get's my by but yep. As soon as that new cable from Perth to Singapore is up, I'm sure pings will be even lower and Latency shouldn't be a damn issue anymore. But until then. WTFAST.

No surprise, given that global-gateway is Telecom.

I tried WTFast SG8. no change to in-game ping :(

Did you use the chaining feature? AUS2 in the first box, then SG8 in the second? Can only have chaining with premium version not basic.

Most people are on the right track here, some (won't name names!) are being a bit harsh, and guessing who we use for things and what our plans of world domination involve! We do have several peering links to major internet peering exchanges and more coming up! We can't control everything (as some have alluded to) but we may be able to make this a little better, give me some time to look into what magic is required.

EDIT: I've been told there is an international cable fault near Shanghai, which means traffic is temporarily going a different route. It may not be the answer, but I will bet it isn't helping things!

sea.battle.net (singapore/south east asia starcraft server) routes via vocus in australia via perth to singapore directly. maybe it's possible to route forward traffic over that same path?

It certainly is - it used to take that route, but Wargaming had lag issues so Snap changed to global-gateway instead. It would be nice to change back to Vocus, I'm sure the problems have been sorted by now.

I decided to give WOT a go on the fibre connection at work and my ping times were;t much better than my ADSL connection at home. I suspect the issue is that the traffic is international rather than Snap's issue.

My ping times were around 200ms

Worth mentioning that after going back to them a couple of times the good guys at Snap suggested two things: 1) an international problem that is being investigated and 2) there would be benefit in having Chorus swap our connection onto a new card at the cabinet. We said yes please. Chorus sent an engineer round (cool guy called James), who started by checking the cable from the house outwards. Turns out that there is a dodgy cable strung along the poles out on the roadway! So a third issue has been found and a down-holes up-poles man will come a-calling. The card was apparently swapped and apparently added 1 Mb to the line speed. I'm seeing pings of 220-240 now (was 240 -350 and on up in spikes.

You know what, in a world of customer service emails either being flatly ignored or having your "important" call queued via Saturn and Mars, I have to say it's nice to see Snap making a real effort at customer service. Good on you.

I'm sorry, but that isn't an "Answer". Yes one of the problems is it is international traffic, but that doesn't mean Snap can't control it.

Excellent. Looks like your first-hop latency is fixed.

"normal" WoT Asia pings for me right now are 200-220, and that's with very little first-hop latency (VDSL) from Auckland.

WoT is having their own issues currently. random lag spikes for all players.

Thanks, good to have that basis for comparison. At least the rubber banding has stopped, that was giving me a headache and a stutter ;-)
