Let us know how you get on with that .. they won't even acknowledge there is still a problem to me.

They've had enough chances to rectify the problem..now I have to go through the drama of breaking my contract.

Fun, cheers Orcon its been good being a customer of yours for 10 years or so.. until these past few months.

Foil hat on .. I still think its management that has instilled some sort of cost-cutting measure and the techs are trying to work around keeping some of the more power users happy with what they have. Most people probably wouldn't notice a slow-down, or would notice is not very often enough to complain about it or switch providers.

Yea I don't blame you, I'm giving them another 10 working days to respond/fix else I will be changing ISP's.
I originally signed up because they had global mode also and while I can sort my own global mode I refuse to accept this as acceptable performance.

The latency/packet loss is making online games unplayable,

f0rky:

The last 3 days
While my download speeds are affected I've focused my ticket on the latency and packet loss to Orcon, As this rules out variables making it easier to gauge.

I noticed this myself the other day I have UFB too, Latency jumps 40-50ms and upstream only drops to 5 - 10mbit.

Yes this is a different problem. There is an emergency change in the system and should resolve the issue tonight this affecting some ADSL/VDSL customers too and not ALL UFB customers affected.
The original problem sparking this thread was resolved months ago, hence why I have suggested this thread to be locked as it creates confusion for people not affected by the new problem.

Kind Regards
Bevin

Thanks Bevin,

Fair call on closing this thread too, The original issue was network performance accessing data outside Orcon.
That appears to be resolved, The fault now is with peak time latency and packet loss to everything.

I'll create a new thread that deals with just that if the problem persists.

Just so you know the change was successful on Saturday and that night everything was good however it looks like some people may be still affected (looks like the bandwidth demand was higher than expected) however was not as bad as the previous weeks.
We are still working on this and hope to have this resolved soon and once and for all.

Cheers,

Geez, now I'm being a thread necromancer

Thanks Bevin,

Saturday was near perfect, I had a call from Orcon Support and was told that a possible change to resolve the congestion would be made on the 3rd September.
*fingers crossed*

UPDATE:

Connection has drastically improved, latency and Packet loss are within reasonable limits, Thanks Bevin for seeing it through!
Smokeping was a great asset in monitoring the issue and ill be leaving it running to keep and eye on things

As the original issue has been resolve some time ago and the peak time latency/PL now appears to be resolved this thread should likely be closed/locked.

Thanks for the feedback. We have been working hard behind the scenes to resolve. We have more capacity going in over the next few weeks to ensure this never happens again.

Cheers,
Si

Last few nights have had fine latency to NZ servers on csgo for e.g but AUS servers receiving past 100ms
Ping is fine throughout day but rises during peek hours 830-1030

ANyone know if this will be fixed?
