Mine was to run it from over the road, conduit down the side of the house, more conduit under the house to where I asked them to run it up (I did that conduit), more conduit in the ceiling cavity to drop it down into the cupboard I requested.



Ah ok, that makes sense, here they have already run the conduit from the road to the side of the house and blown the fiber through it, they didnt need anyone home to do that part of it. I was even nice and left a mouse line from the side of the house (under the floor) up through the conduit in the wall to where I want the ONT but that didnt seem to account for much.

Unfortunately when two organisation share in the delivery of something they will both dodge responsibility at the boundary.  It's a way of managing work flow.  It sucks, but what are you gin to do?  Change to different UFB installer - you can't.  So no consequence for either company for their slip shod customer service.

Imagine if a pub tried that ...


"I'm sorry you'll have to plan your life around our business and come back come to drink beer during office hours".


But then pubs have competitors ...






If you want someone professional to do work for you you'll have to find time within business hours

It seems incredible to me that people are waiting so long for the installations.


I requested UFB in November last year after checking that it was available in my street. I started going back to 2Degrees to find out why no one had contacted me and it has been like that ever since.


I heard of other people that said they waited for a year and thought to myself - that is an incredibly long time, glad I am not going to have to wait that long.


I got excited when I got an email from 2Degrees only to find it said the following: Your property at , has been identified as having a Shared Driveway or Multiple-Dwelling Unit, and therefore requires consent for a fibre install to go ahead.


I called 2Degrees and explained this was not the case, so they were going to call Chorus to find out what this was all about.


Hadn't heard back from 2Degrees so called them again and no one seemed to know what was going on. The service rep said that maybe there is work that is going to be done on the street. The only thing I can think of is that they are putting in a walking path about 6 houses and over a railway line away.


Then she said: so it sounds like it will be September after all! First anyone had mentioned September to me!




Like MikeAqua said - we can't change to a different UFB Installer. Just have to grin an bear the poor communication and lengthy waits I guess. I did read the other day something about the installers getting a shake up - think it also mentioned they were changing providers.


Good luck to the OP though, at least it sounds like you are getting close!

They went awol with my sisters install as well. Bigpipe had issues because there was an open install for 2degrees at the address and had to get 2degrees to cancel it before the bigpipe one could go thru. Something went back from chorus to them that they were supposed to follow up on and nothing happened.


If they wont work it out for you, try somewhere else, this is not the only recent case of 2degrees losing the plot with a UFB install I have heard of. Definatly not snap anymore.
