In (weak) defense of the unbundlers - unbundled DSLAMs seem to run lower SNR margins which means higher sync rates (trading off with stability?) so it should result in a slightly higher sync rate for the user (assuming there isn't a pesky cabinet mid-cable). So calling it an 'upgrade' is sorta true

Earbanean:

So I've got home and rebooted the modem and router, but still only seeing between 2.0 and 2.5 Mbps.

Correction on that.  After the reboot of everything, them modem is getting a really good link.  Around 12,000 Mbps.  Now I guess it's a matter of seeing if that continues.  I shouldn't have to continually reboot the modem - specially when it's just in bridge mode.  So, hopefully I won't have to.

To close this off, since what ever was done was finished and then followed by a reboot of everything, our link has been perfect.  DSL sync of of around 12.2  and speed test downstream of router of around 10.5.  So at this stage looking faster than before the LLU move.

Thanks @quentinreade and the people at Slingshot who did a good job sorting this, once I got through to them.  I guess my biggest issue was phone support.  Sitting on hold for up to an hour or so makes it very difficult to be rational about what follows.  Online channels, like GZ, seem like a much easier, more effective path.
