BTR, issues aren't sorted, so I suggest that you go with another provider when fibre is available.

Nothing good to advise about MR solving their evening download speed issues.

8.55pm on a Wednesday night and upload is faster than download with 21.36 down and 21.51 up. So much for 100/20.

No use contacting MR as they won't reply.

Still advertising the following on their website. Not sure that I believe it though.

"Protection from Peak Time Frustration"

"We buy more bandwidth per user than any other national ISP. This means all your streaming and gaming never gets compromised during peak hours."

I for one am intrigued how they could actually claim that. I know, for example, of one large national ISP that

a) Wouldn't make a claim like that without the facts to back it up and

b) is not able to get the facts (ie, in the same position as the other ISPs) because it's a commercially sensitive issue.

If MR would like to give an absolute figure as to how much BW they buy per user, they are welcome, but otherwise I'd be asking them a pointed question about how they know how much all the other ISPs buy.

Cheers - N

Would you say that this is grounds to break contract?

I am not a lawyer, I don't even play one on TV. I'm not even going to give any advice in jest.

I would have been out of a my republic contract long ago with the history of slowdowns in the evening. It was not too bad on a friends connection a couple of weeks back in auckland, but page loads were not as snappy as usual.

Bryndwr, Christchurch.

87Mbs at moment to MR server.

My Republic finally upgraded from 1G to 10G ENNI in Chch last night, interested if it fixes your issue...

Looks like they have finally sorted it. Getting over 100Mbps at 9.20pm which wouldve been unheard of previously

Looks like MR may have fixed it.

10.30pm and getting 105Mbs. Even getting 105Mbs to Sydney. Also getting 99-100Mbs to Fast.com server. This is about double what I used to get.

Ping is also about 4ms less than it was.

Will try more tests tomorrow at different times through the evening, but looking hopeful at the moment.

MR upgrade seems to have fixed the speed issue for me in Chch. Hope everyone else around the country is getting improved speeds too.

All speed tests to NZ, Sydney, and Melbourne since 7.30pm tonight have been over 105Mbs.

Another generally happy customer here

Still find major ongoing late evening throttling issues, via Northpower DC, this never happened with previous provider (rip) on same fibre and onc, but SFTP is bit of nightmare and that's when I use it most.

Very happy here in Chch with MR speeds now. Two weeks since their upgrade and I haven't had a speed test below 105Mbs to servers in NZ or Sydney.

MyRepublic has claimed in the past that they don't know how much other people are buying but they do know they're buying more because the people they're buying it from tell them. Well I think they tell everyone, I presume to try and get them to buy more. Whether this is true or not, I make no comment. Besides the ComCom, you could always complain to the ASA if you believe this claim is without foundation although the most that will happen is MyRepublic will have to stop advertising it.

I'm only getting 686 down on my 1000mbps connection. Is this normal?

I am just looking at MR as one option.  What are your suggestion?

I have read about the views perhaps more so in the past, but how is it now.  I know they do a specific gaming option.  From that I would presume some even hardcore gamers might have given them a try.
